Geeky, comic loving DH - suggestions please!

It is now a thing that I buy dh a comic or graphic novel each Christmas. It is always something he has never read before and they have been a big hit! Grin Especially as I don't read them/ have any interest

In the pat I've got him walking dead (years before the tv series), DMZ, criminal, Y

Any ideas/ suggestions? He has a lot of comics! Shock

Sandman
Watchmen
Hellboy
Sin City/Frank Miller
How much of a fanboy is he? Will he have read the obvious ones like I've suggested?

He's a proper geeky fanboy!

He has all of them by the bucket load! Hmm
6x 2 foot long comic boxes and a billy bookcase full!

He has lots of batman, ultimate spiderman and loads of other stuff but I can't have a rummage till he goes and does something elsewhere. :)

Bunny - he did like those a lot but now has a new gorillaz pair. He does work shoes and non work shoes. 2 pairs of converse would confuse him! Wink

DH suggests Ronin by Frank Miller, Nemisis by Mark Miller, the 30 days of night series if he's after a series.

He has the same amount as your DH by the sounds of it.

How much are you looking at spending? Your DH sounds just like mine! He's asked for this:

Comic

It's a Batman comic written by Kevin Smith but it's signed with and original sketch by the illustrator. International postage costs as much as the comic but it works out around £25.

The Neonomicon is very good (if a bit disturbing).

what about tickets to the annual comic expo in Bristol? Not sure they go on sale in time for Christmas but maybe a birthday?

Wow! Loads of suggestions! :)

Chimchar- possibility but he likes wallets with a purse (?) bit for change

Lilith- good suggestions, I think he has ronin, and lots of mark millar - including nemesis. I don't think he has 30 days of night so that's a possibility! :)

Lunatic - He has all the preachers! But he does love Garth Ennis!

Taco - I think he has that - he also loves kevin smith so I'm pretty sure it's not passed him by but I can't find it! Confused it's a maybe.

Attheend - possibly but Alan Moore can be a but hit and miss with dh. He adores watchmen but has been a bit meh about a couple of things I think. I will check though.

Already - I had a look and it's not till May. That's too far in advance but he does have a birthday before then so I might file that for future reference! :)

Any other suggestions? I quite like strolling into forbidden planet, looking like their most unlikely customer, and then confidently asking for some obscure yet awesome comic! Grin it always makes them a bit flustered that and their lack of social skills for some of them!

Whenismysleepytime

Take a tip from one who knows (And has quite frankly left it too late)

Sell him/Give Him away- slave auction, anything Grin

I have one at home (I've been with DH for 27 years.I used to trawl round Glasgow with him. Then London -usually once a month. And when we went out it was towns with comic shops.

We've got boxes and boxes in the loft (all in nice protective wrappings). I asked him to sell them but "I'd have to document them first" so no further forward.

DH used to love the Comic Buyers Guide every year/2 Years I can't remember.
Maybe it's online now?
It was a huge book.
DH says the comic shops use the "Overstreet Buyers Guide" -might give you some ideas and prices.

Pity the DS I think he might inherit them. Hmm

Lots of marvel themed men's pyjama bottoms around.

Have you looked at firebox and places like that.

Pinterest has a whole section with pins for geeks (it's really called that..no offence meant!!) you might get some ideas there...

Has he read Maus ?

It's an allegory of the holocaust, won the Pulitzer so not bad for a comic book!

It's on my 'to read' list so can't give a personal opinion, but it's meant to be amazing and might be a little different if he's not already come across it.

Buy him Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics.

Or get him Lone Wolf and Cub. There are 20-odd volumes to keep him busy.

There are so many geeks/ geeky dh's! Shock

Yes we have 2 dc and I dread to think how many comics there will be by the time ds can read!

I definitely want to get him a graphic novel/ comic. We are moving in 2 days so presents are going to be minimal for us. On the up side there is no comic shop where we are moving to so the comics may slow down to a trickle via amazon for a while. :)

Redlac - I draw the line at figures! :) I can't stand looking at them for more than 5 mins in a shop never mind having them on display in the house. (the transformers busts may disappear mysteriously in the move!)

Thanks for the recommendations! Off to browse amazon! :)

Feel free to keep adding tho!
