6 month old baby presents

Hi! I've got a currently 4 month old baby and we are trying to think about what to buy him for Christmas.
We've told family not to spend a fortune but would like to get a few toys and bits for him.
I've got done stacking cups and a few books already.
Can anyone recommend any toys/games/books that they bought for their babies first Christmas that are a must have?
Thanks in advance

A door bouncer, my twins live theirs. Lots of next stage items might be useful if you don't already have them - swim seat, bath seat, highchair etc

For cheaper presents teethers and rattles are popular with my 2 just now (6 months)

My DTs were 3 months old on the first Christmas. I wrapped up some stuff they already has just so I could take a 'first Christmas' photo.
Don't bother buying anything else, you got years ahead of spending loads at Christmas. The baby won't know any different.

The only real toys DD was interested in at 6 months were the Lamaze ones, such as the toys that clip to the pushchair and the singing flowerpot, and the Jellycats teddies, which are all quite pricey so they had all been presents at some point or other. But I agree with the others that they're not that interested in toys at that age. Maybe get things they will grow into? The steering wheel attachment for the pushchair is great (you can also put it on the highchair), the noisy balls they crawl after, and cheap musical instruments like maracas and tambourines.

DS3 will bé 18 weeks at Christmas. I was going to get him a 'Taggie' thing and his own bowl/cup/cutlery set for when he weans next year. Or a personalised place mat?

Thank you! My partner and I won't get much but the grandparents are determined and want to go shopping! I love the idea of musical instruments and a steering wheel as well as more practical stuff too.
Thanks everyone, hope u have a super Christmas!

I have got my nine month old a pull along phone from marks and spencers and a ride on come walker thing from sainsburys. Will also get her some books and clothes and bath toys. No point going mad!

Get things they'll use between now and next Christmas as others have said - so stuff for weaning, growing teeth, starting to walk, look at books properly etc. Saves you money next year!

Agree in getting stuff they can grow into especially garden toys! Little tikes rocker, baby swing, ball pit.

Baby walker to push, an interactive table toy ready for standing/cruising/walking.

Bath toys. You never seem to get them as gifts and they are always the toys little dc's want to play with the most ive found!
