I feel like a right freak with decorations, tree etc still up. I thought the custom was to leave Christmas decorations up until 12th night. I suppose that custom, as with so many others, has vanished.
Am I the only one?!

I have waited until 6th Jan every year as love decorations but hate the hassle of taking them down but this year our tree lights died a few days ago and the tree looks bedraggled and sorry looking so may take them down tomorrow.
The only thing i know is that when you take the dec's down you have to do a major clean and i have a stinking cold and do not feel like doing so, so may wait until Friday after all

I hate going back to work with them still up, it feels wrong. All the decorations came down on the 2nd.
Nope, mine are still up and will come down on the 6th Jan.
By which I meant "Nope, you're not the only one"!

Gosh, there would be a revolution in the Donki stable if anyone tried to take the decorations down early! 6th Dec or bust!

MIL leaves them up all year round.
I have taken down my tree etc , but left my Nativity Crib up . My mil reliably informs me that the Wise Men didn't arrive till the 12th night , so it has to stay up till then .

Ours are still up and will remain up until 12th Night even though everyone else in the street has taken theirs down, Houses with decorations still up certainly seem to be in the minority this year.
My indoor decorations are waiting for 12th night.
DH took down the outside lights at the weekend - ahead of the bad weather.

I have a rather sad looking poinsettia in the corner but everything else went on NYE. I can't bear it hanging round once the festivities are over.

We took our tree down last week. Although to be fair it was already putting itself down (all over the carpet) so we only helped it along.
Other decs are still up.

Ours are still up too, will definately not take the trees (lounge, DS's bedroom, dining room), window lights, nativity or garland over the fireplace down until 12th night. I have taken the cards down off the hall doors today as some had started to fall off and the lights outside as 3/4 of them had stopped working after getting smashed against the side of the house in the strong winds so they've gone straight in the bin!! Back in work tomorrow so may start putting away some of the other decorations dotted around the lounge, hall and dining room over the next couple of days.
Noticed tonight that lots of trees / outside decs around here are still up and going strong.
Hate it when they come down, it's like someone has switched a light off in the world!!!

Ours are still up but I'll take them down on Thursday rather than Friday as I'll have a lot more time.
I'd rather wait until a week or so before Christmas to put them up and then leave them up until (as near as practical to) 6th.

Gwen Why are the festivities over? Simply because the shops can't sell anything any more?
Good lord have people been so brainwashed?
Mine are still up, but then most didn't go up till Christmas Eve. I suppose anyone who had them up from early December would be pretty sick of them by now. I'll be taking mine down over the next couple of days, I think.

MIL has them up inside all year round but to be fair to her she doesn't go over the top. It's just the artificial tree in the corner and a couple of ornaments on the heart. It used to drive me mad but now it's just one of those things. Although if you saw how much other junk she has kicking around you wouldn't really think it odd.

Who mentioned shops?
DH is back at work, the rest of the family are back at work. We are not in Spain so the 6th Jan has only religious relevance (I am Catholic so do get the religious aspect) which has bugger all to do with a dusty tree in the corner.
And DD2 is due any minute now so I reserve the right to take my decorations down while I can! Brainwashing has nothing to do with anything.

took mine down today as I am working every day now until monday but I can't be doing with this trend for putting the decs up on 1st dec and then taking them down before january
