well i am doing poncy wrapping this year too!!! i have brown paper, silver matt and shiny paper and dark blue paper. this will be topped with silver curling ribbon, white, gold, silver and blue ribbon tied into big bows (most of it is 3-5cm wide) and raffia with cinnamon sticks, dried fruit slices and tardis gingerbread cookies in cellophane bags. also have cut up old christmas cards for labels. i have done about a quarter of them and they look lovely.

Oh Wow Cherry win the prize I think! Your presents sound lovely, and the combination of dark blue, silver and brown paper will look amazing!

I am far too lazy to go to great lengths with my present wrapping, so it's mostly brown paper and buttons this year, but I can live the dream through all the photos of other people's amazing wrapping.

I love them, especially the ones with teh buttons!

Any ideas on how I can present a 2 pint Christmas pudding? Its just in the lidded pudding basin at the moment. I need to find a way of making it look pretty! Please be as specific as possible in any instructions as I don't have much imagination or flair Smile

Thanks for that :)

Some lovely ideas. I particularly like the hearts on brown paper and the monogrammed gifts.

I love all of those but DH is very sneery about brown paper wrapping as he says it looks like we are at war and can't afford the proper stuff. Sigh.

BeeBread - I can understand your DH's view. I have only used brown paper once with bright ribbons. It did all look a bit "impoverished" to be honest! I am thinking of looking for a nice matte red or gold paper and then using the monogrammed idea on the blog.

Happy I would probably wrap a pudding with either a circle of fabricgathered at the top of the pudding and tied in a bow, or even buy a nice teatowel and wrap the present in that, again gethering all the corners at the top and securing it with lots of ribbon or string tied up.

Bee you need to tell your DH that the war-torn impoverished look is in and looking like you forked out for overpriced flimsy wrapping paper is just not in or trendy at the moment.

Having said that, most of the ideas on the link will work with plain wrapping paper too.

Lovely pics and lovely blog.

I am also a wrapping ponce. In previous years I've done:

Pale blue paper, big white ribbons and Alice tags - Eat Me/Drink Me etc
As above but with tags made of playing cards
Brown paper with red and white ribbons and a candy cane
Brown paper with white ribbons and luggage label tags
Coloured paper, multi coloured ribbons and a party blower
As above but with a coloured bauble
Gold or silver paper with gold or silver bauble and ribbon

This year I've got brown paper, red and white paper, red labels, red and white labels, red ribbon, red twine, red and white striped ribbons, candy canes and I'm planning on mixing and matching wildly!

Oh Lordy! I'm afraid the extent of my gift wrapping is to purchase lots of different papers in a similar colour theme and wrap each person's present in a different paper so it is easy to give out the gifts on the day.

They look pretty though!

I was all stocked up with brown paper, red ribbons, stamps/punches galore, brown & white tags, NOEL sticky tape etc. DH looked at first batch with the most massive of Xmas Hmm and I worry that the recipients of these will feel the same.

Maybe I will just wrap my own presents.

Ohhh I love poncy wrapping - to me the most exciting present is a still wrapped present & poncy wrap makes it more so.

It a ain't a present wthout a big, fat bow.

Some brilliant ideas there OverMy, will be trying some out (although DH gets very angry with me because I hate actually opening my presents - I just like to sit there mooning over them - this WILL NOT HELP)

overmydeadbody there are some lovely ideas there - I will definitely steal some of them.

My claim to poncey wrapping was to do the presents in plain silver or gold paper and then put them in a cellophane bag with (depending on the recipient) either pot pourri, cinnamon sticks, lavender, sparkly snowflakes or smarties. And then tied with a ribbon (as in Rowan Atkinson's character in Love Actually). Xmas Grin

How pretty! This year mine are white paper with gold ribbon and a candy cane. So pretty but took forever!
