Still stuck for 10 year old dd who is not asking for anything.

Budget is about £70 but might go higher if it is something brilliant.

It can't be: camera, ds, ipod, sewing machine, kindle, ipod dock, cd player, Playmobil...

We are totally stumped.

She is swinging between a child and a mini teenager so still playing with Playmobil but also doing her hair constantly.

Her stocking is organised but we need the one bigger gift from us for under the tree.

She is into ponies, animals in general, art, gymnastics, craft...

A hamper of baking stuff? Nice bowl, pretty silicon cup cake cases, apron, icing set, decorations, cookbook, cupcake stand, rolling pin, cookie cutters etc.

She has access to all our baking stuff and uses it regularly - otherwise that would have been a great idea.

We have 8 pets already so even she doesn't really want any more (she has to clean most of them out!) Otherwise that would also have been a brilliant idea.

She already has a camera, ds, ipod, sewing machine, kindle, ipod dock, cd player, Playmobil??!!?

looks like you've peaked too soon Grin

it'll have to be a wii, mobile phone, laptop or ipad - only you'll have to eke those out until she's 18

cj she doesn't have all those things Shock Those are things she either has or we have decided against for now. I can see how my original post made it look though.

That animation studio thing looks great. We still haven't bought for our 9 year old, I think she'd love it.

How about quite a few smaller things;

ds game
claires accessories stuff
bath bombs from Lush
books

We went to South Lakes Animal Park in the summer and loved it there. What a fabulous zoo. She would love to be a keeper for the day but we don't live near a zoo. The nearest requires an overnight stay for a pleasant day out or a really gruelling day with hours in the car Sad

The animations stuff does look fantastic. Ds is hugely into animation though so it would look like a gift for him and be monopolised by him.

Sorry, I do really appreciate all the ideas so far. It is tricky though and she has had a difficult year (ds has mental health problems) and we want to make sure she knows she has been noticed.

Sadly we can't stretch to the pony that would really do it for her Sad Grin

If you go on this website www.hearthsong.com they have some lovely craft projects. The one I liked was making a patchwork quilt from squares that you design and then knotting the squares together (My Super Knot A Quilt Set) but they have other things too such as a Yarn Making Kit, My First Potters Wheel, Jewellery Making Kits and lots of others within a wide age and price range. It is an American site but if you googled stuff like that I am sure you could find places where you can buy them over here.

Is she young enough that she'd like a Build a Bear voucher?

If she has a DS the Professor Layton games are great (you might have to help her with the trickier puzzles).

I have a 10yo DD with similar interests. DD is actually getting from various sources, some in stocking:
one new blue nose (Skunk, cheap but not usually in shops)
a set of inexpensive gold earrings
Pony mag subs (from grand parents, maybe not in budget)
Lots of knitting wool to make friendship bracelets with
Some shiny (like jeweled) pens to write with
glitter nail polish (Krackle polish is the big thing, I'm told)
A craft set (origami style, makes stars she can hang from ceiling)
Cash (that's the main thing she's asked for!)

She wants a new diary to write in, with key and lock, preferably horsey designs on it. I haven't seen anything like it, though have been too lazy to shop online

Does she have an ipod touch?

or access to one, or an ipad?

Because I have seen this fabulous thing in the last few days. Its about £80 so a little over budget but if you shop around you may find it cheaper, I saw it in the apple store.

ITs an Ion Keyboard Apprentice and its a mini keyboard you plug in, you download an app to your ipod/pad and it teaches you to play piano. DD1 would love it - Ive already got all her pressies but I can feel myself crumbling.

Sorry, its Piano Apprentice not Keyboard Apprentice.

If she's pony mad, does she ride? If so what about something like jodphurs, riding boots, nice riding gloves? If not, what about a set of riding lessons, don't know how much they cost round you but certainly here you'd manage a set of 6 within your budget.

lljk, I am getting this journal for my 10yo dd. Sounds exactly like what your dd wants too!

Second Takver's riding lessons suggestion. Was going to suggest zoo-keeper for a day until I saw it wasn't a runner for you.

Your DD sounds just like my niece. I would suggest Pony mag subscription or something similar, if she has a DS then the Pippa Funel (sp?) games seem pretty popular or tickets for something like this?

Report
lljkk · 25/11/2011 18:58

I just saw that one, DoubleNegative, but I think she'd like this one even more!
Wondering if Granny might stump up for it

innertiger · 25/11/2011 20:25

i don't know if she has an ipod/itouch or if that's on your reject list, but if she has the i-Pig is on a number of my friends ds' list. it's very cute, costs £50 so would leave money over for craft stuff/pony mags/cd's etc.
Hope you find something that ticks the box soon Smile
