Hi, you need to link the kindle to your amazon account. I did this through the wireless connection on the kindle. If you don't have one, you can plug the kindle into your computer with the usb that comes with it (the usb is part of the plug and just pulls out - it took me about a month to figure that one out). Blush

You can select 'send to my kindle' on amazon and they will download when connected as above.

me too! for my 14yr old son. and dont have a clue what to do either.
so im just going to let him open it up on the morning and sort it out himself. ill just pay for the amazon account whilst i sip my cava, he can buy whatever books he likes on the day.

When you pay for them, you ask for them to be sent to a specific Kindle. It does it automatically - the book is downloaded when the Kindle is connected to Wifi or 3G. If you want to retrieve them from a different Kindle/ipad/smartphone, you retrieve them from the archive.

it sends it by 'whispernet'. I have ordered a few books today from amazon and they are just sent directly to the kindle

Amazon automatically register the Kindle to the account that pays for it. If you will be using your account for her books you won't need to register it. Just charge up the Kindle and there's a tutorial preloaded onto it. Follow that - it really is very user friendly, and easy to do :)
