Suggestions for joint game for 4 and 6 yr old?

DD is 6 and DS about to turn 4 and I would like to buy them a game as a joint present. Was thinking maybe the young version of Operation or something similar.

Main criteria are that it has to has universal appeal for a girl and a boy and not something that takes ages to set up each time.

TIA.

Look at Orchard Games range - they have loads that would be suitable for those ages. They were on sale on Play.com yesterday (I went a bit mad buying for my lot - I bought YoHoHo Pirates, something with Monkey in the name, Slug in a Jug, and Doodle Bugs. )

Mine are 3.5 and 5.5 and like pop up pirates, kerplunk and guess who. (I have to help them set up Kerplunk)

From orchard toys they like Yo ho ho pirates and crazy chefs (both memory games)

(The electronic version of guess who was massively reduced in Argos today - no idea if its any good, we have the normal one, but just happened to notice it)

They also like Cranium Hullabaloo although I have a feeling this has been discontinued?

Frustration is good. Mine enjoyed Junior Monopoly, but that would probably need some adult input.

Agree with any Orchard games. Mine have also liked Lego Shave a Sheep.

Second Hungry Hippos, I have a 6 and 4 year old and they want Guess Who as well, although dd2 mentioned Smashed Potatoes. They didn't like Buckaroo, I think mine are too impatient young to play Operation Grin

Dd1 got Elefun as a birthday present a few weeks ago and isn't mad about it.

Junior MOnopoly great, but I agree, will need an adult to play too. Same for Junior Cluedo.

Junior scrabble is played here by dd 4 and ds7. Ds has to help her a wee bit.... Also guess who.

Thanks - some great ideas, Hungry Hippos sounding popular as well as Orchard Games .

DD has Junior Scrabble already as someone gave it to her for her birthday - am ashamed to admit I had forgotten all about so will get it down. We also have Junior Charades that we don't play - I think I need to get better about instigating family games Blush.

I was going to suggest Orchard too, especially their picture lotto games. I used to love playing lotto when I was little!

My eldest two are 3 & 4 so a bit younger but they love orchard shopping list, crazy chefs & bus stop.

Also big fans of guess who.

My 6 year old niece plays all of the above happily too

Hungry Hippos is ace!!! Also one called "Finders Keepers" enjoyed by mine aged 4, 6 and 8... "frustration" good because they can't cheat/lose the dice! Downfall & connect 4 mine enjoy. And for playing with mum and dad, Mousie Mousie is great!!! Or indeed Mousetrap.... and Hot Potato brilliant fun for 4 or more people...
