How does Santa get in?

We don't have a fireplace or chimney, and I was just wondering earlier how Santa would get in... I need some magical inspiration in case our ds asks and I can be 'ready'. Any ideas??

We bought a Santa key in the post office. He collects it sometime in December and let's himself in with this magic key.

We don't either. DC 7&4 would tell you that's why Santa's magic dusts comes in handy, because you see, one shrinks him (and his sack of junk toys--) so he can fit in through the key hole (I think helped up by the reindeer), the other makes him big again

Well............we told kids he was magic-he can get in anywhere!! They bought it!!! But if yours don`t, you can buy Santa Keys from card shops, Wilkinsons etc for only a couple of pounds, maybe that would work???? How about a sprinkle of magic dust?? A tiny bit of glitter dusted over the key hole of your door so Santa can work his magic to get in?? Good Luck.

This is brilliant!! So I really need to go for something to do with a magic keyhole type thing with sprinkles of magic dust. DS is only 3 so not sure he'd get the shrinking thing but I love that idea!! Thanks everyone! I think I'll make a magic key to put in the mailbox to be sent to Santa and go from there. I am beyond excited about Christmas already this year

everyone knows that when FATHER CHRISTMAS arrives at a chimney-less house he magics one up. It disappars again when he leaves. He particularly likes blocks of flats as they have nice flat roofs for the reindeer to stand comfortably on while he's delivering the gifts, it means he can stay at that home a little bit longer, so he's going to need a larger drink left out and I think a box of those lovely chocolates that mummy likes...

our santa key is left hanging on the outside of our back door after the reindeer dust (oatmeal and glitter) has dumped in a big pile been sprinkled in the garden. santa the has to remember to post it back through the front door when he locks up after he leaves:)

We have a Santa key...

We have a chimney but the key is Santa's Back up to make sure he gets in if he eats too much and cant fit down the chimney!

No chimney/fire place here either. I just told DS (4) that christmas eve is the one night of the year mummy and daddy don't lock the front door. He didn't question it! Plus, too excited on xmas day to check if it is locked or not.

We're one of the only houses in the street to still have one (originally the house had 2 fieplaces, but that's just greedy [hgrin] )

I grew up in a flat and Santa used to come through the radiator. Obviously. We have even seen it last year with DS (4) in a Xmas movie, so it must be true. It was useful as we spent Xmas at my parents' last year and they have moved into a flat.

Then DS made my sister clear all the clutter from the front of her blocked fireplace to make space for Father Xmas to bring all our presents as we were coming to hers for Xmas day.

He came in through the bathroom window when we were children (actually through the toilet window before my parents knocked the partition wall... not v hygienic) and ate the mince pie and whiskey we left on the windowsill.

I was always very impressed with such a fat man getting through such a small window!

We had to get a key too, when we moved into an "eco-house" new construction following our old traditional house with chimney.

Then rational old 6 yo ds asks us - "why didn't we just leave the skylight open for him so he could leave the sleigh on the flat roof??"

Wow, everyone I know who doesn't have a chimney goes for the "Father Christmas magics one into your living room" scenario. I have never heard of this key business [hsmile] [learns something new everyday]

We moved to S Africa for 2 years when DS2 was 4.

Total emotional breakdown by aforesaid DS on Christmas Eve as it dawned on him that our kindly (armed) security guard for the block of flats complex would in all probability shoot and critically injure Santa, should he try to gain entry without the requisite Pass.

So.....we all duly troop down to the security booth where our lovely guard is solemnly shown a picture of Santa and asked sweetly if he could on this occassion make an exception to the 'no pass-no entry rule'.

10 years on, it is the stuff of Christmas myth in our family....

My girls were given a horrid fear of Santa by an elderly relative who talked about him coming into their bedroom and checking if they were sleeping before leaving presents (my girls were aged 4 and 5) - after 3 sleepless nights, and tons of trying the reassuring magic stories, we told them "the truth".

They accepted it more than any of the other crap and we have since had lovely Christmases where they write to thank everyone for their presents - not some mythical fat stranger who creeps about their house in the middle of the night - leaving presents only if they are "good little girls".
