I want to buy my two year old dd a play kitchen and saw online that Asda have a wooden one down to £40 that looks quite nice. Has anyone got this? Just wondered if it's any good? Also, where I can get some wooden accessories to go with the kitchen? I've been googling but can't really see any, ELC had some nice sets but they were pink (The kitchen is red and I didn't think the pink sets would look nice with it) Anyone have any ideas please?

I know it is very expensive (although there are usually discount codes around) but I cannot recommend this one highly enough - we have had ours for 4 years, and both DC play with it most days, and it looks good as new (we have lost the hands from the clock, but that is all)

Ikea do some good kitchen bits and pieces, but it's not wooden, but is pretty realistic. Look here.

Plastic pots and pans work well because they're not very noisy when toddlers bash them around - we got a set similar to these last year to go with a red kitchen. Or alternatively, what about this red pot and pan set? I've found melissa and doug products to be quite good quality

For wooden 'food' accessories try amazon/play for santoys, bigjigs or melissa and doug products. I've just taken some delivery some wooden santoys juice for DS to keep in his kitchen 'fridge' and sell in his cafe (which comprises of his kitchen, easel and toddler table & chair). You can get cake stands, cut and play pizzas and various other things too.

Thank you both for the links. That kitchen looks really nice, I love that you get the chefs outfit and cookware set free! I think it is a bit expensive for me though, I've already bought my dd her christmas presents so I think my dp will go mad if I add another £130 to it. Unless I can convince him I'm buying it for our 4 week old dd haha.

I didnt even think of Ikea so thanks for that too, she'd love the little breakfast set!

Try Amazon for wooden pots and pans and play food, pintoy do some lovely bits and pieces.
I got the Melissa and Doug 4 crates of wooden play food set from amazon, it has a little crate each of dairy products, fruit and veg, breads and meat/fish.

We bought this Janod one last year for DD and I still think it's lovely! cutest little oven glove comes with it, a couple of wooden pans (with an egg in one), and some utensils.

Don't buy the tea set from Ikea ! It looked lovely but broke very easily on our kitchen floor.

My DD has never not once played with her £100 play kitchen (letterbox)
Thankfully ds plays with it every day. And hoovers, mops and sweeps too!

Have been looking at the asda kitchen as it's a great price but I've just ordered the janod kitchen thanks to this thread. Thanks soozze! Love the colours, great it comes with a pot & pan (also cant bear all the pink elc stuff) & I ordered some wooden food things from elc as it was on sale last week. Think my DD is going to love it.

We have the John Crane kitchen- I got it on Amazon for 60 quid 2 years ago. It's a great size for younger toddlers and it fits quite nicely in the corner of the room, some of the others I saw were massive!

It still gets played with every day by my 3yo and 16 month old. We also keep a basket of plastic play food next to it (I find the plastic stuff lasts longer and doesn't hurt as much when they throw it Grin)
