DD got some pj's from the IL's for Christmas they are pink which she doesn't do and too small. Can I exchange without a receipt?

You can do but they give you some arbitrary value for them and not the cost price - its all very odd. Well that is what happened the last time I did this.

surely they will exchange them for their current value (ie the sale price)

Nope - not always, they do a goodwill exchange or some such. It depends when they have been bought I think - its always a shocker when you get given something that hasnt been in the shops for ages - really shows up the regifting.

Agree with gingernutlover, they should exchange (or give credit note) for lowest previous selling price. Ie original price or sale price if they have subsequently gone into the sale.

ah, yes I suppose the exception to it would be if they were an out of stock item from a year or so ago and then the price wouldnt come up on the till so they will give you a nominal value for them - I actually think that is fair enough.

If the item is still on sale instore then they will allow you to exchange it for something of the same value (based on what they are currently selling the PJ's for)
