Dp has bought me a bottle of Prosecco today. What can I do with it to make a delicious drink for Christmas day?

Is it possible to buy peach puree? My blender has died so I can't make it.

Or is it nice with cassis maybe? Or something else?

And please can somebody tell me if it would be possible/nice to make mulled pear cider and if so, how would I go about it please?

Thanks. :)

You can drink it on its own as an aperitif. But if you want peach with it, why not try peach schnapps?

Or you may be able to find some peach juice.

If you don't want to drink it all you could make some lovely jellies with berries and gelatin.

or how about Rose Prosecco Cocktail or Zabaglone di Prosecco or if you are feeling really festive how about a Snowflake Xmas Smile

Yesterday bought some 'Compai' peach fruit shots(that's shots, not shootsXmas Grin)in Waitrose, carbord cover over three small round plastic botles. They aslo had apple ones, and mango, and would be perfect for amking a prosecco bellini. if fact, I think I'll make one now...

Aha - I thought Waitrose might be the way forward!

Any more ideas please?

You can get cartons of peach juice in Lidl.

Its very good with Campari. One shot Campari to 4 of Prosecco. Gets you there pretty quickly, iykwim.

Mulled pear cider: I have a mulled cider recipe you could adapt. It has sliced apples and oranges in, maybe you could substitute for pears?

.....Sarah Raven recommends diluting the Campari/Prosecco mix with freshly squeezed orange juice or fizzy water if you don't want to get trollied want to make the drink go further

Yes please Tafetta, if you don't mind posting your recipe.

Have never tasted campari - what does it taste like?

Thanks for the Lidl tip, Pesto. Not sure if I can face the hell that is the local high street for peach juice though!

Oh wow what does Campari taste like? Thats
hard to answer. Sort of herby cherries?
recipe for mulled cider:

for 12-15 glasses

2.5 litres cider still or sparkling
2 apples washed cored and sliced
3 oranges washed and sliced
zest and juice 1 lemon
2 teaspns ground mixed spice
10 cloves
3 cinnamon sticks snapped in half
6 tablespns soft brown sugar

All in pan gradually heat, simmer gently for 1 hour, don't let it boil. Strain to serve.

Delia also has a recipe for hot spiced cider with buttered apples, which you could replace with pears. Similar ingreds, but separately cooked fruit which is then placed in the drink on serving.

That's brilliant, thank you. It looks as if I could easily adapt it to pear.

Can't be doing with Delia - will use yours!

BG- you can get peach puree in foil packets (like Capri Sun! Shock) in Selfridges.

I like to use Creme de Framboise- tastes divine! Cassis would work just as well I'm sure.

Framboise sounds even better actually!

Thanks. :)

Or you could get a jar of hibiscus flowers - you drop one flower and a few drops of the syrup into the bottom of the flute, top with fizz and watch it expand. It tastes delicious.

I think you can also get them in Lakeland...

Do not drink Campari!!!

We made Nigella's Seasonal Breezes last night - I was very excited about them, and went out and bought all the makings. they would have been lovely if Campari itself did not taste absolutely disgusting!!! Thinly disguised paintstripper....
