Recommendations for a camera for 4yr old

DD is desperate for a camera. I understand that the childrens camers (e.g. v-tech and fisher price) are not very good. However, when I looked up reviews of cheap-ish adult digitals they didn't have great write ups, with particular reference to low battery life e.g. needing to change batteries every 10 shots.

So, any recommendations for a camera that my DD can use to her heart's content?

digi blue (think that is what they are called) - they have them in school

Thanks for the tip. I think with VAT and P&P it would be c.£75 which is a bit more than I wanted to spend - and the order form is too confusing!

whatever you buy, get an extra big card as well, they will take a lot of shots....

DC have the vtech kiddizoom one and I really rate it - batteries last for ages and dcs like the games etc as well. I would recommend it - we have put a bigger memory card in so they can take about 200 photos and lots of video too.

The VTech Kiddizoom has also been fantastic for my 5 1/2 year old - she had it for her 5th birthday and has had so much fun with it, and I know people say the pictures are not good quality, but she has actually taken some fantastic shots with it. It is very robust and has come everywhere with us. The little games and special effects are good fun and dd loves making videos on it too.

May I just check that the Kiddizoom has a USB connection and it is possible to print the photos?

Perhaps straying too far away from a "camera" but had you considered a mobile phone ?

Motorola W377 (pink) under 25 quid, is a VGA quality mobile with 10 MB of internal storage (enough for 250 to 500 at a guess) with Bluetooth and USB for transfer, rechargeable battery lasts 400+ hours on standby, weight under 100 g, has FM radio (and if you bought a 5 quid ASDA PAYG SIM you could call the phone to find it if it got dropped in the sofa or wherever.

Flip style phone so when shut it will not make phone calls, camera function really easy to use... on mine I hit right button to go into camera mode, then left to capture a photo, then hit left again to store, and choose "store only" (rather than sending it in a message).

Possibly not what you were thinking of, and clearly not camera shape, but a fairly sturdy
case, small enough for a child's pocket (compared with a bulky camera shape).

Just an idea, and of course no need to get a pink one (just thought it might make it less likely to be considered of interest by boys attempting to steal it, even if they don't know this is not the latest in phones).

Design came out perhaps 2-3 years ago, and mine still going strong from purchase 18+ months ago.

Ooops - VGA quality camera - comparable to digi blue but not Vtech (2 Mpixel according to info on Amazon site - has USB but no mention of printing, sorry).

Just had another look at the Ebay photo. The image shows the "M" of motorola and a reflection of the camera taking the photo, at the left end is the camera lens, and phone is wrongly described as candy bar

The left 4/5 is the part which flips open and the number pad would then be visible with the screen on the flip open section (safe from getting scratched when closed).
