What's on the top of your tree?

I need something to go on the top of the tree. I have a 3 year old DD so am veering towards an angel, rather than a star. Has anyone seen anything nice?

I have erm... a fibre optic white angel. She is very serene and not at all tacky... well only a little bit

we got an angel thing from Homebase today - was only £3.99 so maybe not the best quality but it does the job

We have got a really nice golden bird. Got it years ago from Fenwicks I think, has wire in its feet and tends to fall over a lot.

When I first got married I looked everywhere for an angel/ fairy type thing to go on top of our tree like the one my parents had when I was growing up.

Couldn't find one any where so I bought a cheap little doll and made one using crepe paper, card and some old net curtain.

Some 21 years later she has had a few makeovers and is a little bedraggled but we still put her up there. Really don't have the heart to get a new tree topper. [cgrin]

Sorry that should have been Xmas Grin

We had an angel for the entire time I lived at home (22 years). She appears to have got lost since :(
I have a gold star, because I could not find an angel similar to the one we had and anything else (angel-wise) just doesn't seem the same [foops]

or Xmas Blush, even. Althought I'm quite liking [foops] Xmas Biscuit

Moving on...

We do have a big silver star, but when we opened up the Christmas suitcase, there was an angel dd and I made last year (when she was 3). So have thought ooh, maybe it would be a nice tradition to make one every year (and then keep previous ones and display them somewhere). Should add that drawing and making is dd's raison d'etre so particularly relevant...

(PS I do know what you mean NotfromConcentrate, we had a gold fairy and I think I would find it hard to buy an angel/fairy that compared!)

We pick a different topper every year to have the honour of wearing a mini Santa hat and being cable-tied to the top of the tree. Over the last few years we have had Tigger, a plush rat and Cthulhu among others. This year it's the turn of an old (jointed and stuffed with woodshavings?) teddy bear with worn fur and glass eyes. He has been around since before I was born but I don't know who/where he came from. I thought it was time he had his moment of glory :)

Tree not yet got, but on top will be a manky moth-eaten toy the DC won in a raffle at the cubs about 5 years ago (was manky & moth eaten when we won itXmas Grin) and they insist on...

Getting tree next weekend. I fully expect the kitten to try and scale to the top.... Xmas Grin

Normally, there's a kind of fairy thing. That always goes wonky, like Barbara's. Part of its charm.

Ds made a beautiful star about 6 years ago. It has gone on the top ever since (attached by pipecleaner). Still have the gold star that used to go on it before, but his one is much nicer.

An angel ds made as a pre schooler 6 years ago that makes me laugh every time i look at it because it is crap and has an expression on its face that portrays having a branch stuck up its bottom!

We have a gold/hessian angel I bought the year after DD1 was born. It is lovely. We alternate with this and a rather ghastly silver one who may have to have her wings broken this year so she cant be used next year Grin

We have a gold star, very lovely, we had an Angel which I rescued from a local Charity shop last year and she was well past her best but I gave her a chance, she fell off nearly every day (think she'd been pilfering the sherry).
