Does your DD love playmobil?

If so, when did she first start playing with it and what are her fav things?
DD1 will be 3.5 at Xmas and currently loves her ELC safari plane and animals. Wondering what to get her that will have some longevity... playmobil?

Where to start?

Dd was 3 in the October that we first bought Playmobil at Christmas (ie the same as yours, OP!) She had the plane and the airport that Christmas. The following year the modern house (at 4) then the supermarket (NB, probably the least popular item, though she does play with it, just not as much as the other stuff) then last Christmas the hospital. Also second hand at odd times, I've picked up a vintage school bus (cost me about a tenner and been played with more than anything else) and the sea stuff, fishes, divers and what not.

This year she'll either get the farm or the zoo I think.

Am scouting round for offers, someone on here said the farm is on mega offer somewhere. German ebay is sometimes good, as is Mail Order Express. There's another website which sells Playmobil, it's in my favourites, I'll go and dig it out, I've never bought anything from them, but it does have good offers.

Thanks both, interesting.

Have been looking at the playmobile in shops- where to start?!

Bucharest, I had shortlisted the farm, found it for £44. Is the 'mega offer' cheaper?

Blimeyheck no, where have you seen that? Grin

Here is the other site, I just had a look but there don't seem to be any mega offers at the moment.

My dd is 9 now, nearly 10 and loves Playmobil. For some reason, it still appeals to her and this year she's asked for the school for Christmas, so she's having it. Last year she went mad for the pyramid and the roman ampitheatre. We got her both and she's played with neither Hmm

We also bought a second hand victorian house set from a car boot and she's played with that loads. At first it was just playmobil pieces with a sylvanian families house, but we replaced that with a proper house from Ebay for £80 in the summer.

Her whole collection started a couple of years ago with a pink princess palace. I'd bought it to sell on (I trade on Ebay) and I never thought she'd go for it in a million years (she hates pink and princesses) but my God, that set got some hammer!!!

Playmobil do have a damaged box sale where you can get a few bargains but it's usually after Christmas.

Ah, no www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-4055-Farm-Mega-Set/dp/B0028ZXTS0?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 this is the one I'd been looking at...sure I've seen it less than £100 somewhere.

I got dd the portable doll's house when she was 3.5, but she started actually enjoying playing with playmobil when she was a bit older, at about 5.

My kids love playmobil - the best being the take along toys. The double sided princess house is a winner and the clip back together house. Great as all the bits go back inside & you can carry it around.

My kids loved it, especially DS. He had enough Roman soldiers for a Legion! He is now 12 and it has only recently been packed up into the loft to await grandchildren.

Ds had the Noah's Ark for his 2nd birthday. In fact, he was playing with it this morning before school (he has just turned 9!). Dd(5) also loves it.

The boat has been in the bath many times.

We also have a couple of farms but once the buildings came apart, they have never really been put back together and just sit in a box. The accessories/figures are played with regularly.

The take along farm looks good - especiallyif it does not come apart.

The pirate ship and fort also look good - having seen them at friend's houses over the years.

both my dd's love playmobil, we started with a rubbish truck and a bus, she now has far too much but her sister is just getting into it, dd1 loves the vet set and the dinosaurs, dd2 likes the look of the school but it's a bit too pricey so she won't be getting it. We also have the huge farm set (with tractors, bart and animals) and we have the play park which they both love. I like the look of the new puppet theatre here but i am trying to have a playmobil free x-mas this year as i spent most of last x-mas putting the bloody stuff together Grin.

My 5yo dd LOVES playmobil - she got her first bits for Christmas when she was exactly the same age as your dd Tobermory. We started off with the take along house, the playground (which I think you can only get from Toys R Us) and they came with a free ice cream parlour. All of this was a great start as she was able to act out scenarios that she was familiar with.

Other hits in our house are the family yacht and the circus which I got for her 5th birthday as a bargain from John Lewis. The wedding stuff is quite fun too. Meanwhile, nearly 3yo DS loves the fire engine which I got from EBay - and the Father Christmases from the advent calendars, who have joined the fire service as we didn't have many firemen!

I have to say my least favourite is the take along house as the design seems a bit old fashioned - I think the camper van would have been better - but the house does get played with a lot by both children, so what do I know!

I only have a ds, not a dd but he loves Playmobil. It's his most played with toy ever. He does have loads of the stuff, but it always gets played with. At the moment he is very much into Police, fire and rescue stuff, but also likes the construction sets and some of the leisure and airport stuff. He had his first Playmobil when he was 5. He is now nearly 10, and still no signs of growing out of it!

I took the plunge, DH was v enthusiastic about the idea of playmobil, bought the farm. It arrived today, DH is slightly less enthusiastic having just spent most of the evening putting it together!
It looks fab, think DD will love it!
