DS1 (2.6) on waking up from his nap:

"I want one shreddie and two spoons of alpen and three weetos in a pot for my snack then getting down then loo then playtime then pasta with tomato sauce and cheese then apple then getting down then loo then playtime then getting undressed then bath then milk then brushing teeth then story then bed then had a lovely sleep then nappy off then breakfast then getting down then loo then playtime then getting dressed then nursery then home then sleepy time then snack time again. And I want one shreddie and two spoons of alpen and three weetos for my snack......

Are all two-and-a-half year olds like a stuck (and very pedantic) record or is it just mine?

Mmm I would say normal. What a clever boy to be talking so much and in such well structured sentences though (you have to look on the bright side!) My friends ds is like this and he's a complete little charmer and keps the whole household in order!

DS is kind of similar but with imaginary things inserted in between the reality stuff - like Wake up early in the morning and go for a wee then a poo then jump off the mountain and save an eagle then go to nursery school with Dora (or with Diego, Bella, or which ever TV character he happens to like that day). I think it shows sometimes how much comfort they can find in a 'routine' (not in a bad way, in a good way , i.e. knowing that sleep comes after bath, etc.)

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
