I'm quite worried about it as surely it's not normal. It started because we have a cat who insists on bringing dead animals home. DD if she see's it in the garden has to go out and inspect it, ask how it died etc. I thought I was dealing with it well by being honest and saying that the cat kills these animals to eat them and then sometimes doesnt want to eat them so leaves them in the garden. But the questions shes asking now are becomming more gruesome ie wheres the head gone, does the cat eat the skin, blood etc. Shes the same at the fish counter at asda.
The thing thats dsturbed me a bit is she drew a picture yesterday and when I asked her what it was she told me it was 3 sea monsters who werent very nice because they went around eating all the other sea monsters blood apart from the little sister one!!! Shes into witches big time so I dont know if this blood obsession has come from that.
It's normal - she's just interested in how things work. Curiosity is natural in a child, even about things that are gruesome to adults. Answer her questions honestly. An opportunity for bit of scientific education never did anyone any harm!
I am especially disturbed by DS2 at the moment, his current hobby is bathing naked with his 'Gabriella' and 'sharpey' dolls from HSM (whom he has also stripped off). Not only are they all in the bath naked together, he likes to hold them under water to watch their long hair 'flow' under water.
I'm thinking maybe I should call some type of 'Cracker' type blokey in...
I think they are just very matter-of-fact about things like death at this age. My ds(4) is asking questions about it every day. He also does a lot of "killing". Today I heard him asking dd(2) "Do you want to be killed?" then I heard her reply "Yes!"
