Star Wars. He wants to be Darth Vader when he grows up.

Methinks this is a bad thing. Although I am rather pleased that he doesn't want to be Luke Skywalker.
He certainly has the temper to make a good go of it, and I do sometimes wonder if he is heading toward the dark side hmm

Actually probably not his favourite film as he actually prefers the disney Robin Hood and Peter Pan, but he does want to be Darth Vader.

ah - had forgotten the obvious ones!! Yes, Toy Story 1 & 2 and the Incredibles are huge faves here. Indeed the whole Zurg being Buzz's father led onto the Star Wars thing (much to Daddy's delight!)

We just rotate through Pixar on a weekly basis, with a little Shrek and Shark Tale thrown in for good measure. His keyworker at pre-school said "aren't his language skills good?" I didn't have the heart to reply "yes, because I let him watch too much telly" ...

Robots, Bee Movie, Madagascar, we haven't started on yet!
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By JohnsonsIsBest on Sat 10-May-08 21:28:14
wow i can't believe how many similar ones there are!
not much call for Robots then, just eeny! DS loves it to death, but yeah i guess its Pixar who have tapped into the mind of our children, how'd they do it?

Jungle Book it's how I get a shower, sling it on in the bedroom jump in en-suite shower (can see them and the TV) they don't move for about half an hour.

Yeah, my ds couldn't watch most of this stuff and he's 4.5 (I was thinking of renting Finding Nemo but maybe not!). His cousin watches Jaws every week shock! Happy Feet and (Disney) Peter Pan top watches here but even then I have to come running in if the crocodile appears!

Accessorizequeen - Finding Nemo was non-stop horror movie as far as DD1 was concerned! She watched it at four and it is just one perilous situation after another. She did watch it right through - and then once more before we sent the DVD back. But she wouldn't watch it without me right there to hold her hand!

Sounds just like my ds, Smithagain! We got one of the muppet movies for a reward chart treat and I was glued to his side for the whole thing answering questions and holding his hand. I wouldn't mind but I use tv as a babysitter like everyone else whilst ds2 is having a nap. One I really like and he does too is Vegetales, has anyone else come across these, they're bouncy vegetable characters and it's really funny. One about the True Meaning of Christmas?

ds2, who's 17 months, hasn't watched any tv so far. No interest whatsoever. I should be pleased, but I've got twins due in October so I will need tv to get through it!

DD2 (2.8) loves

The Wizard of Oz (or the Wizza de Boz as it's known in chez Wez)

Mary Poppins
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the original) and
The Grinch

Have seen all of these almost daily since Christmas.

We're all now word perfect

<sighs>

Finding Nemo is quite scarey, actually.

Athough he is 5 now - from the age of 2 he was obsessed with "Cats and Dogs". Now, oddly enough, it varies between "Bambi" and "Return to Neverland"

Toy story 1 and 2 for ds voiant. Closely followed by thomas and the magic railroad, then shrek 1, 2 and 3 and finding nemo. He will watch the whole of toy story or thomas, if he's in the right mood, but kinda loses interest in the middle of the others, then comes aback to them towards the end the end of the story. He's 2 1/2

Oh, DS2 was obsessed with Thomas and the Magic Railroad when he was little!

Finding Nemo (from about 18 months, he's now nearly 4), Toy Story 2 (he keeps asking for Toy Story 3 and doesn't believe me when I tell him there isn't one), all the Shreks and My Neighbour Totoro

...although I think I have thoroughly corrupted my gorgeous grandson. Bought "Phantom of the Opera" DVD as I have Gerry Butler fetish and GS ran into the kitchen yesterday, waving the DVD case and shouting "Can we have a DVD day and watch Phantom" blush

Watching Monsters Inc (again) right now (yes, I know. We will go out in the sun later...). Loving Pixar cos as an adult you don't mind watching them again and again too.

Dd is 2, and we discuss lots of scary bits (we do skip the beginning of Finding Nemo though... ) but I think tbh some of them will be scarier when you are older and get more implications iykwim. Dd is happy with rationalising that everyone is 'nice really' (she won't have it that anyone is actually horrible) and that mummy and daddy are here to cuddle her if she is scared.

Some good ideas for other films too here though.

DS1 3.8 loves loves loves Balto. Balto is half dog half wolf and saves sick children by bringing medicine 700 miles in snow. Gives me goose bumps when i watch it. DS 'plays' Balto which involes him dragging his 'sledge' (a box) around the house or garden as breakneck speed. grin

Mine is too young (17 months) to like films, but she watched 3 minutes of Ratatouille and started laughing like a nutcase, until the human characters came on and started shouting at each other, and she was instantly turned off it.
