AS some of you will know, DH has been battl;ing severe depression for years. He has also been running a second job (small business thing- ebay shop), helping me with the boys (no mean feat, 4 kids 2 with special needs, and being a generally good hands on Dad, he also helps loads around the house so I can study.

last night, he was recommended for promotion to senior management at work- he got A grades throughout his appraisal.

I feel so proud- he's fought so hard from some very dark times, 5 years ago he was unemployed (he was sacked because of being so down), we lost our house, I thought I'd lose him at the worst point... he's just never given up or expected anyone to cover him.

Hopefully next year he will get his chance to go to Uni and live his dream, so he probably wn't take the promotion (I don't want him overloaded, financially we can cope now, rather that and a well DH)- but grin

That's great news and what a heart warming post smile After some of the husband bashing that some (and me included I have to admit) indulge in, it makes a refreshing change.

You deserve each other. And I mean that postitively rather than in the usual sarky way. Well done him.

Its great to read a positive post. It is so easy in the stress and hassel of modern life to only see the bad in people. You are both stars ****

Brilliant! Well done your DH...if he can fight depression he can do anything and obviously other people are noticing that too. <<pats on the back all round>> smile

Congratulations!

I think there's a message there that depression is not a sign of weakness, as brave and strong people can get it too. It is something to be fought, but not something to be ashamed of.

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
