When the warm weather came DD ended up going into her cot for her daytime sleep without a grobag on and then she started to refuse her grobag at night. She is now waking at night probably cold and very early in the morning, what do I do? She goes hysterical when I suggest or try and put on grobag. I've tried putting blankets and sheets on her when she is asleep but they are kicked aside. She has never been tucked in as always used a grobag- and I know she wouldn't like it especially as she plays with her cuddly toys before going to sleep. I don't want to move her from her cot to a bed as she needs to move room to do that and we want to do that after the summer. Should I try a quilt, "force" her in her grobag (of course MIL suggestion), put lots of layers on her and hope sleep improves. A very tired mother.

How about just warm pyjamas, or does she not like having the bottoms on?

We used those two wac, but they're a bit warm for the summer. I suppose it depends how warm your dc's bedroom is. Ours is like a sauna in summer.

A bit warm for summer, I put her in pyjamas and vest and I think she is too cold. Think she is a good temperature when she goes to sleep but then is cold in the early morning. I suppose there is no magic cure - I will have to try and bribe her into the grobag tonight.

Can you put her in it when she's asleep? I dressed DD far too warmly last week and she was a sweaty heap. I managed to get her out of the 2.5 tog sleeping bag and sleepsuit and into a 1 tog one whilst she was still sleeping. She had been in bed for around 2 hours so was deep in sleep.

Go into her room, quietly, in the morning and pop a blanket over her then. Or put the heating on really early.

Sometimes ds2 wees and it comes out of his nappy into his cot. I can change him and his bed and he won't wake up!

My DD , 15 mo, is sleeping much better now she is out of hers. She is a real wriggler so we tuck her back under the covers when we go to sleep at night this seems to keep her going till the morning.

She is waking 5.30/6am so I don't want to get up earlier and put something on her. I put something on her before i go to bed but she has pushed this off by the morning. She will wake if I try and put her in her grobag she is a light sleeper and if she wakes she can be up for an hour or two screaming as she wants to play Will try grobag again tonight and if not socks/vest/pyjamas. Maybe I'll go to John Lewis with her so she can choose a quilt to see if that will work.

My DD wakes not long after 6 am if I'm lucky anyway so I suppose that's what I mean by till the morning hmm

Either put her in her grobag at 10pm ish at night where it's way off morning time and she'll be sleepy rather than feisty OR, if that will set her off, then I personally would just insist she goes in the grobag - no cajoling, bribing or coaxing - just 'this is happening and that's the end of it. No need to get stroppy, just quietly firm - as you are when you put a nappy on. It's better to have a wee fight then, than her not get a full night's sleep. Sleep is such an important thing - health and growing wise smile

what about laying her on top of the flat, open Grobag, like a sheet and then doing it up over her whilst she's asleep?

I've just moved DS out of a Grobag, cos I was too stingy to buy a summer one, and it's been too hot for the thick one the last week or two.

I've made up the bed with sheets and blankets, but put them across-ways, IYSWIM, so there's loads to tuck in either side.

He wiggles about when he goes off to sleep and normally ends up asleep at the wrong end of the cot, but I find if I move him back the right way round once he's asleep, and tuck him in really tightly, then he stays tucked in till morning.

I tired him with a duvet a few months ago, but it was hopeless as there wasn't enough to tuck in, and it was colder then, so I was worried about him becoming untucked and getting cold.

The sheets and blankets seem much better though, and cos it's milder, I'm not so worried if a leg ends up poking out!

Worth a try??

I was wondering whether a system of 'babylegs' would help cold extremities (if that's what you're worried about) - or if you've got old jumpers, chopping arms off jumper so that she can wear legwarmers/armwarmers. Perhaps this is a barmy idea though!

Just an update she went into her grobag without protest last night for the first time in a week and slept 12.5 hours, so definitely will try and keep her in them for as long as possible. Got her lovely pink single sheet grobag with spots on (obsessed with spots) for when its hot so hope she will be okay.
