I'm a student mum of 3 - 2 at school, youngest stil in nursery - they are 8, 6, and 4.

recently things have been a bit up and down - jan and feb were crappy when I had a bad reaction to the mirena coil, made me really depressed and ill.

Since I had it removed, dd1 (8) has been dealing with the terminal illness and this week, death of a classmate - he had a brain tumor. Ds is at the same school and thankfully is dealing with it OK - but he didnt knwo the boy as well as dd1 did.

Dd2 has been diagnosed with a hip problem - Perthes disease - which should resolve on it s own over 18 months but in the meantime no running, jumping, restricted walking, more swimming than I am normally up for! She got a large buggy this week which helps.

Then yesterday she came out in chickenpox (the others have already had) and so I am in a swivet - cant miss any more classes at college (due to finish up my degree in a few weeks) but dh is working and its hard for a single handed GP to take time off ......

Its just motherhood and all that goes with it. But I was kind of hoping for a bit of sympathy, as am feeling stressed beyond my ability to cope!!!

Hi Weegiemum sorry to hear you've been having such a bad time, it sounds as if everything has come at once.

Have you spoken to the school to see what support they've put int to help the children? I am sure that they will put in helpful resources and they should talk to the children about what happened. It must be really hard for your dd1 to comes to terms with - death is so final and such a hard thng to accept. All you can do is let her know that if she wants to talk about it your right there.

Could you sign dd2 up for swimming classes - it would mean you didn't have to do all the swimming with her. I am sure if you explain to the teacher they'll be able to do a course to suit. As for the chickenpox - ask one of your friends if you can have copies of their notes (or even contact you lecturers explain the situation and see if they'll let you have copies of THEIR course notes). Then use the time DD is sleeping /resting (if she does) to catch up on revision.

Sorry know the above is very helpful but wanted to respond and try to be constructive. I hope things get easier soon, it sounds like you're going through a rough time

Sending big cyber hugs

If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
