: How much does your 4 yo weigh? Am I being paranoid worrying about how little dd weighs?
(20 messages)
Probably 3 stone, if she's still following her latest centile (91st). She looks fine though, still got a toddler pot but all the arm/leg creases have gone, and she doesn't have an 'unusually' chubby face. How does yours look?
dd is 2.6 stone and nearly 5. She is 107cm tall. It had not occurred to me this might be underweight for a child this age. She eats well - is very active though - and is slim but not thin. As DontCallMeBaby says, how does your dd look? Is she normally pretty lively?
She's the smallest, height wise and build wise in her class (of her age not of the ones who have just started nursery iykwim). She does look pretty skinny, and I did notice that her arms are skinny thin.
I haven't measured her height <runs upstairs to check height chart>. She is pretty lively but gets tired really easily, and is better off eating 3 little meals and 2 decent snacks during the day, than trying to tackle a large meal in one sitting, but that must be the norm I think.
I wasn't worried until I spoke to my dm tonight who said " I don't want to be a scaremonger, but I would be very worried". Thanks. That's a very helpful comment.
My dd is 6.5 and weighs 2.9 stone. She is very tall for her age and looks thin and gangly. She eats very well and all the time, I just don't worry about it. She's active, does well in school and is generally happy. Shes just naturally thin. If your dd seems healthy and eats I wouldn't worry either.
I am, yes. It popped into my head when I was thinking of a name and now it comes back whenever I'm on MN. I figure there are far worse songs to have stuck on a loop in your head!
My dd is 2st 5 and 110cm tall. She is thin, her arms and legs are frequently commented on as being twig-like and she is barely there when she turns sideways. She still wears age 18 months trousers as capri pants... Hwr, she is very active, eats ok-ish (has certainly eaten worse in the past)and is perfectly healthy - just a skinny minnie. She doesn't tire easily, although does go blue when swimming, and is in good health.
If you weren't worried about her before, then looking in the red book shouldn't alarm you - if there was a problem I am sure you would have noticed.
My dd has been above, along and off the bottom of the centile charts for weight, while maintaining a 50% for height, She is just made that way
My son is 4 and a half, 111 cm and weighs 2 stone 11lb. He looks quite tall and skinny but has always been like this. He is very active and not very interested in food. I think this is far healthier though than being overweight. A friend of mine's son is a couple of cm shorter and nearly 4 stone and looks v overweight which I think is far more of a problem.
oh yes and until I was 14 I was really skinny. I weighed 4 stone at 11 and was 4'11'' tall. But at about 13 I reached puberty and almost doubled my weight in a year. I'm now 5'3 and 9 stone so it was all ok in the end.
i remember getting dragged off to the doctors my my over-anxious mother, on the grounds of being skinny, underweight etc; doc helpfully said "can she run? does she eat?" and when the answer to both was 'yes', said "only bring her back if she's too fat". Although not the most helpful thing, I try to remember when having panics over my (small and lightweight) children that if they act fit and healthy, then they most probably are.
Thanks ladies for the late night flurry of comforting responses
She woke up this morning with bags of energy and confirmed all reasoning that I am worrying over nothing. DH and I were skinny minnies until we grew up and got old and fat, and ds is quite little as well so I think she is just little. (Tomorrow obviously a high fat food parcel will arrive for her from my "scaremonger" dm )
