I was wondering if there if anyone has actually managed to get their sticky paws on a P&T Vibe and if so, what do you think of it??

Anyone??

i saw one out and about in SW London last week and it looked pretty cool, if not at all like the E3, more like a quinny. I was embarrassingly more interested in the Vibe than the lovely newborn inside it blush

Did they really think that name through? I wasn't expecting this to be a pushchair thread. blush

It's amazing. It nearly made me cry I want it so much. Why couldn't I have had my babies a couple of years later?

I'm such a sucker.

To be fair, I remember a time when a new pushchair was more exciting than a sex toy. It wasn't a stage that lasted long though. grin

There was a lady on here a couple of weeks ago who said she had ordered one and I begged her to come back and report! Maybe she is having so much fun pushing it in this nice weather that she forgot... disappointed with the Quinny comment though as I don't really like them. Tenterhooks here.

Please tell me in MINUTE detail why you love it and do you honestly think it's any better than the Sport?
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Thankyouandgoodnight on Tue 06-May-08 21:00:51
Yes it's a double.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By YouNeverKnow on Tue 06-May-08 21:13:37
ok didn't have the sport but had a e3 and hated it!

main seat-

very thick luxurious padded liner make seat much more comfy and dd1 doesnt look so far down in it iykwim?

the strap bit thats connected to the back can be twisted and moved up and down to adjust the height to where shoulders are so no huge gap above lo

harned improved ten fold its just a easy 5 point harness rather than the old weird version thing!

bumper bar moves in two different positions

handle bar-

still adjust like the sp and e3 but the brake is on the handle. one click of a red button and the brake is on (a very good one too!) push down a blk button bit and brake off!

hood is bigger and better than before

second seat just as the main one except smaller!

no adaptors for second seat you just unclick the bumper bar and click on seat for the newborn toddler mode (which i used today with my 8 month old so she got a good nap! its so easy to quickly swap over)

the toddler seat folds with the buggy. you unclip some bits on chassis and push the main seat unit up and second seat forward and fold! you can also do that and tuck the second seat out the way under the bit that reclines the main (sorry to confuse!)

to fold the buggy has been improved you have two handle one each side lift up and press down on the saftey catch and then fold very very easy!

erm raincover for double much better doesnt flap about like old ones

i will keep thinking........

although the vibe is more expensive in my opinion its worth every penny! they have improved or changed everything i hated about the old models!

it looks bloody fantastic! soooo stylish! i get lots of looks with it! i am a complete pramaholic and i would go as far as saying that i am reformed

grin hope that helps? i have prob missed loads and will add on!
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Thankyouandgoodnight on Tue 06-May-08 21:22:48
Oh brilliant thanks loads for this. Great piccy too!!!!

Do you have to have the bumper bar on it?

Can you get to the shopping basket ok with two kids in it?

The more gushing thoughts you have the better!
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Thankyouandgoodnight on Tue 06-May-08 21:23:34
Oh and can they sit upright or is it quite reclined?
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By YouNeverKnow on Tue 06-May-08 21:24:27
NO BUMPER BAR CAN BE LEFT OFF whoops caps
and shooping basket fine no more trouble than with others... you do still effectively have a childs feet in it though.. lol
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By YouNeverKnow on Tue 06-May-08 21:25:22
no sit upright very well. i hated how the main seat was so reclined in upright position on the older models
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Thankyouandgoodnight on Tue 06-May-08 21:29:10
Can you bump it up steps ok?

Do you use buses and if so do you have to get on at the back rather than the front (ie is it too wide)?
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By YouNeverKnow on Tue 06-May-08 21:36:52
i drive so dont use buses its a couple of cms wider i think than the sp. i dont have a problem of it being to wide.

as for the bumping up and down etc, not a problem at all for me its very sturdy feeling feels incredibly solid
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Thankyouandgoodnight on Tue 06-May-08 21:51:10
Is there anything that you don't like about it?

Do you have anything to protect the tyres from punctures?

I walk the streets alot and notice they sell tyre protector stuff and I'm wondering if it's even worth it.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By YouNeverKnow on Tue 06-May-08 21:57:29
erm i wouldnt think its worth it. the tyres are very good quality and cant see myself getting a puncture. in fact i thought they were not air filled and fully rubber until dh pointed out the air valve!

erm only one thing i have to get used to is the brake button being in middle of handle bar. its quite sensitive so first time o took it out i knocked it and ground to a skidding halt lol

but no nothing i dont like!
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Thankyouandgoodnight on Tue 06-May-08 22:02:27
You are a star!

I'd heard a rumour about the brake thing and that it's a pain if you're pushing with one hand as it sits exactly where your hand goes BUT I am hoping that it's easy enough to avoid without being a complete pain in the bottom!
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By YouNeverKnow on Tue 06-May-08 22:09:12
lol
its fab idea though and once you are used to it there its no prob at all. in fact is great when the toddler is on the run on a hill as it snaps on quicker than the toddler can run hence bubs is safe and not enjoying a ride down the hill lol
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Nightstalker3188 on Tue 13-May-08 10:18:23
We have got one...

to be honest it is'nt worth the wait nor the money you'll spend for it over here in the UK...
We had a friend of ours who went on a shopping trip to NY who kindly brought one over for us...
We paid 468 for it which included the doubles kit the cocoon and a double storm cover...
The first day we had it I managed to break it.. the locking system on this buggy is very flimsy, it has 2 clips - one on either side - which you need to flip over to lock the buggy in place - beit folded up or open ready for use - Anyway, when we folded the buggy up and tryied to lock it in place one of the clips gave and a bit of plastic came off, so now , although the buggy still locks ok, the clip wobbles...
Further more the doubles kit clips in place on top of the buggy when used in conjunction with the cocoon - this is also quite an art to get placed without scratching the surface of the buggy...which by the way scratches very easily...
I contacted out and about about the clasp as I believe this should be a warranty fix and they are not interested - nice supplier they are, we complained to Phil and Ted directly about them - still need to see what comes back...
So to sum it up... Yes the buggy looks nice and can be folded up with the doubles kit in place - which by the way you need to move each time from one position to another when used with the cocoon - and yes the wheel lock system is much better than on previous models...
However it is not worth the money, its flimsey - still quite bulky so if you have a small boot on your car think twice - We have a Rav4 and it takes up much of the bootspace... Also there is hardly any space for your shopping and other bags which are needed when you have little'ens...
Hope that gives you a bit of a heads up on this buggy...
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By phlossie on Tue 13-May-08 10:37:03
I have the Sport, which I love BUT the brake's crap, it doesn't fold in the boot when in two toddler mode and I spend my life faffing about between two toddler and toddler-newborn mode depending on how much sleep my 7mo dd needs. Sounds like the Vibe (can't say the name without sniggering) has got those things sorted.
Should def have that problem fixed Nightstalker -I've heard P&T are v good at sorting problems.
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Nightstalker3188 on Tue 13-May-08 11:18:52
Well funny you say that...
Looks like Out and about have read my mail again and are now being a bit more forth coming, they have asked for pictures so that they can figure a way out to get this sorted...
I was a tad upset when they said they wanted me to go to the usa and talk to the shop...
Anywho... I still stand by what I say... the buggy isnt really worth the coinage people will have to pay here in the UK... its a nice enough buggy though... As for the break being in the possition it is - we have had no issues with it, its not as sensative as it seems... The fact that it folds with the doubles kit is great which was one of the deciding facts we had to get it, but as mentioned there are 2 positions on the front to place the doubles kit in if used in the lower possition then when you fold the buggy up you need to move the seat to the higher one and as the removal/istallation of the seat is a bit fiddley you end up scratching the frame of the buggy...
Also when folded up the buggy is wider than the sport, we just hiked up to glasgow from reading with our 2 kids and the wifes luggage and just about managed to fit it all into our Rav4 - had to take all the wheels off and stand the buggy upright tucked away behind back seat rest... anyway as mentioned I dont think the price is right on this one... I'd hate to know what the mark up is on this for the shops....
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Thankyouandgoodnight on Tue 13-May-08 20:57:17
Was that $468 or £468??

I THINK I overheard the shop people saying 100% mark up to each other when I phoned to ask if they sold them and how much......it's a bit like wine in restaurants!!
Thanks for the warning about the locking system and please post back about whether or not your clip issue was resolved!

Is it much wider than the sport shock

Hi All

Have A dd1 who will be 20 months when dd2 is born in August. Am really struggling deciding as to whether to go for the Phil and Teds Vibe or to look at the icandy Pear. I had hoped that the someone at the Baby Show would have an example of either but not a sign!

They both seem to really be about the £500 mark (hugely expensive) - but really difficult to find info on the net or stockists in our areas (solihull, west midlands) for either. Has anyone been able to compare the 2 and capable of giving me some feedback. Also does anyone know of a shop that actually has any Vibe stock at the mo?
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Waytmi on Mon 19-May-08 00:24:28
I have a Vibe and love it so can answer any questions you may have regarding that.

As for the Icandy Pear... I saw it when I picked up my Vibe and the seats looked rather small.... I know there were a few on Ebay for this reason.

The other thing I would say against the Icandy Pear is that you have to take the seats/carrycot off to fold it whereas the Vibe folds with the double seat on. Obviously much easier!! wink

HTH
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Briwish on Mon 19-May-08 08:34:04
Thanks Waytmi

I just like the thought of all the different combos you can get on the Pear. However I have also heard it is quite heavy and fiddly. the reason I have decided I would pay extra for the Vibe over the Sport is the whole weight issue.

Where did you get you Vibe from and are they now available as there does still seem to be a shortage of stock. I am due with dd2 in August so was hoping to get one before then.

I got mine from Great Expectations in Brighton but I had pre-ordered it. There was a company that had 3 available in black on Ebay last week.

I think if you search around you'll find some avilable soon as most shops were getting a second batch this week.

Good luck smile

Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Waytmi on Mon 19-May-08 21:37:49
Do you mean the weight of the pushchair?
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Briwish on Tue 20-May-08 12:18:24
Yes a few things really.

Have you found it heavy? How easy is it to manoeuvre? Also have you used it with two children in and is one of your kids less than 6 months?

I always wanted a pushchair that had the option of the children facing me, which is what attracted me to the icandy pear. However, I have seen so many negs about it i.t.o how small the seats are, how fiddly it is and how heavy it is I am vearing away.

Thanks for your help!
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Waytmi on Tue 20-May-08 21:12:02
I'm using mine in toddler/toddler mode & at the moment I don't have a baby less than 6 months old...

I've found it a dream to push & not especially heavy.

I'm comparing mine with a M&P duette, a Jane PowerTwin, a Jane TwinTwo, a Mothercare Hoxton and a Mutsty Duo. This is the best yet!

I know what you mean about wanting children facing you especially babies. I always had a thing about the baby in the P&T as it looked so low down like it had been slung in the basket IYKWIM! I think on the Vibe the seat is higher up so it looks better.

hello!

www.groovystyle.co.uk have them in stock - I rang yesterday and they had 19 in charcoal, (18 at most today as I ordered mine yesterday afternoon!) Think they also had red ones.

I'll let you know what mine's like when I've got it!

Waytmi - I need your help!! My vibe arrived today and we've got it altogether etc but the hood is confusing us! It has a zip thing on one side and it doesn't seem to attach to anything front or back - is this right?????
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Waytmi on Wed 21-May-08 19:12:52
The shop put mine on back to front! The zip goes at the front. The single raincover zips onto it. And no it doesn't attach to anything so you can slide it up and down the frame. I've found it brilliant as a sunshade as it flips right over unlike the Sport one.

I've put my bumper bar lower than it's meant to go as my LO's like resting their feet over it & it seems too high on the other setting.

Is it ok other than that? Have you tried folding it?!
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Thankyouandgoodnight on Wed 21-May-08 19:19:51
Ah - is that the considerably smaller plastic sheet???? That makes sense! It is VERY foldable grin - LO loves it - she wouldn't get out of it!!!

Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Thankyouandgoodnight on Wed 21-May-08 19:21:09

Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Thankyouandgoodnight on Wed 21-May-08 21:08:22
Sorry it's me again - sussed it. We don't have the single because we ordered a double kit (or did you still get a single with yours??) and the back flap is used with the single but not the double storm cover. The double cover is enorm and fills the shopping absket - where are you meant to keep it????

I am going to road test it tomorrow!!

Hi, sorry DS2 b'day 2moro so been blowing up balloons etc etc!!

I managed to get raincover to told quite flat and put it in bag that's meant to be for storing double seat then it sits at front of basket upright if that makes sense!! Doesn't get in way at all.

My friend took her son & my DD2 out today in it and loved it. Let me know how you get on 2moro.

I've got a busy day with a party at home so hoping for nice weather but will check in to see how you got on. smile

OOOoooh I do hope that you had a good day!!!!!

I road tested the Vibe and after my little maclaren, it feels huge but it's definitely going to do the job with two of them! Does it feel much wider to you than the sport did? DD loves it and had a lovely sleep in it too, so it gets the thumbs up from me!
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Waytmi on Thu 22-May-08 23:26:34
Hi. Yes we had a great day and fab party thanks.

I hadn't noticed it was much wider though I have to say when I've been in shops it takes some getting used to & that's the length as well!

My DD2 has her nap in it every day too & seems very comfy. It's not perfect but it's doing the job for me so I'm happy. My DH thinks it's a 'cool piece of kit'! He's glad it goes in the car in one piece & still leaves room for shopping!! grin
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By Thankyouandgoodnight on Fri 23-May-08 12:40:33
Oh great - I can't wait until my LO(s) are old enough to realise they're having a birthday party - brilliant things they are!!

I have to say that I do love the Vibe - I think anything that's going to carry 2 children is going to feel quite substantial in terms of width and length BUT it is really easy to operate and it's also better than the sport for ease of reclining main seat, the brake and width of the seats etc. It's a very cool piece of kit!!!!
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Waytmi on Fri 23-May-08 20:26:58
I agree about the size & have tried a couple of doubles which are smaller but ultimately far less comfortable. As we walk a lot too I'm finding the Vibe a breeze going over bumps etc.

We've got another party/bbq 2moro as my parents didn't make it back in time yesterday. Keeping fingers crossed for some nice weather....

Have a good weekend.
