and i don't have to look smart for work- thank god- but i'm getting out all my funky mini dresses and jeans. i'll even be able to wear a NECKLACE without someone trying to throttle me with it!

i'll be working Mon / Thur / Fri 9-4.30pm, and 9am-1pm Saturdays. I didn't want to work the Saturday, but childcare is going to cost us so much, i'll need the money. We'll be paying around £168 a week sad shock

Can't wait though. DS1 going to spend some time with one of the childminders today, but DS2 can't go.

Hi all plus new people to this thread, nice to hear lots of new tales of woe to make me feel better - ha! blushgrin

Well DS has roseola, judging by his symptoms anyway. He had a really high temp on saturday then got a bad rash on tuesday which lasted overnight then disappeared. The whole time he has been MISERABLE. He literally cries the whole time he is awake unless freshly druggedup or having just eaten. His nappies are even fowler than usual which I didnt think possible from the poo monster. Touch wood he has slept ok so far this evening but I have had such a flashback to newborn stage the past few nights. sad

Grrl - I am back at work next week too - yippee! I start on wednesday, doing 2 days in office then a half day in my own time which Im quite pleased with. What are you working? Lets see how we both get on, Im dreading the morning get ready, Im up on my own as DH works nights so Im convinced I'll be late every day. I struggle for 9am leaving!
Jewels - I missed you saying you'd quit work or was it always your intention not to go back?

I have had 2 days to myself with nursery and parents giving us a break so Ive been shopping trying to buy a work wardrobe. You know when you have loads of money to spend you cant find a bloody thing?!? I was also in Principles but didnt touch the highwaisted trousers, I though they wouldnt suit my flabby belly but perhaps I should have given them a go? Ended up with 4 black tops and one skirt hmm Am enjoying the thought of looking smart for a change.

Right off to bed, its silly late now. Night all. Heres to peaceful nights.

hola ladies! Don't know why the spanish greeting all this hot weather must be going to my head - or else the fumes from my extreme fake tanning are turning my delirious,

The high waisted jeans are a godsent! Grrrl I am sligtly blush to admit that mine are from a shop I previoulsly considered for the 'more mature' women - Principles. I did try some lovely ones in oasis too but they were just that bit too short once worn with towering heals whereas as the principles ones are uber long. And they have four buttons vertically on the waist, are really fitted around the arse and make me look all curvy They are not 'shit-man' flared though, just a bit.

DD slept til 0550 this morning was is better than the last few nights of 0500 so today I have my old spring back in my step. Had a long day though DH should have been back from work by 3, but it was 5 and I was ready for a rest.

The bubbles idea sounds great! Will try that for sure!

oh and exciting stuff DD2 can now sit up on her own! Ok, not for ages (just 20seconds or so) but I feel all emotional that she can nw do that aaah

Off to bed soon then pilates!

Loucee my hair is also dying for a good dousing with peroxide.....

And yes, the leaving so. I left work last september but took maternity leave for 1 year. So my official leaving date is september. Make sense? hmm and yes, yes, you are right it is just an excuse for a party grin I do not need to be asked twice!

A bientot mon amies, (not sure that plural for friends works in french but there you go)

Hello milki and jeanjeanie smile, my youngest dd is 14 months, and I still haven't mastered a daytime nap at home without dd1, whispering (loudly)'shhh, dd2 sleeping',whilst poking screaming dd2 in the eye, and smothering her with kisses. Without the double buggy I doubt either of them would sleep in the day at all. As for Cbeebies, we have been without it for 2 weeks, because Sky was knackered, (it's fixed now, and I have given the TV lots of lovely hugs to let it know it was missed). Dd1 said today 'mmm telebision, dd's favourite'blush

Sorry for all the poorly lo's, mine have just started with the snotty noses, and dh is on holiday from tomorrow, so I'm not sure if that is good timing or bad.

Have spent the day with a friend who has a three and a half year old and 14 month old, so my house is now one huge pile of toys, breadsticks, cous cous (what idiot gives toddlers cous cous!)and dirt from the garden.
Aah well dh is cooking a lovely curry, and there is cold bottle of wine in the fridge, so things can't be too bad!

Have a good evening everyone.

evenin' all

chaotica - glad the london trip went ok, maybe he just has expensive taste wink

kaybee - poor ds2 with the vomiting, is it still bad? all our playgroups ended too which i just don't get cos none of us have kids at school hmm
one nursery started a garden play thing today, was only 3 mums there but i know the others both well so we just had a nice chat and the 3 toddlers all played nicely together while the 3 babies sat in the shade with us

jewels - yuk re fungus! shock hope the cream is working and fast. so when are you leaving work, confused? the jeans sound good though, need something for my mid-region....
though am wearing some size 14 cropped trousers today that are snug but dh and a friend said they looked good

simpson - well done on day 2
was ok last night, ds2 up at 3 for a feed, ds1 up at 5. managed to get him to be quiet until nearly 6, then brought him down to watch the repeat song on beebies before the programmes start blush
dh came down then and i went back to bed until ds2 woke at 7.
ah well, this too shall pass.....

hi milki ds2 pretty much just falls asleep without too much fuss. i just go with the flow with him really. i started out with the intention (and mostly stick to it) of letting ds2 wait for things cos he won't remember anyway, and mostly a feed will sort him out. ds1 on the other hand would build resentment and cause problems. so i never say anything like 'no, mummy can't do x because of ds2' and so on. good luck!

grrl - good luck for monday, you sound very positive about it anyway glad ds2 is better.

jeanjeannie - hi i also said that about tv and beebies or dvds are on so much here blush
yes toddler meltdowns not good at the best of times, and looking after a baby is not the best of times! i have been lucky, so far....

loucee - good bubble party idea both my boys love bubbles - and my cats too!

our hot weather idea is baby bath full of water, various toys and some paintbrushes, ds1 then paints the fence, garden toys, etc. even my feet

right, best go, long enough! speak soon

Hi all

A bubble party is a great idea grin Next week DH is away for four days and will need things to keep Dcs occupied. Bubble party may be used smile

Day 2 of potty training and it is kind of doing my head in but such is life.

I have been quite productive today and painted our garden fence. Just got to wash paint of myself grin

Welcome to JeanJeannie and Milki

Hi Loucee....oh good - someone else uses bribes....glad that's ok...as DD1 has had a lot of banana yogurt today while I fed baby!

Bubble Party...how fab....we put the fan on full blast in the living room and stuck the bubble stick infront of it...et voila...in-house bubble mayhem!

Oh to get my hair done...I've got chipped toe nail polish, legs that need attention and I won't even talk about what used to be a lovely bikini line...blush Still, when DD2 official gets to 2 months I'll start grooming again! Enjoy the hairdressers - what a treat smile

welcome Milki and jeanjeannie

JJ yes it gets so much easier and you'll learn the tricks to make your DD1 content and happy to wait patiently whilst you feed DD2 etc (in our case bribes and pots of strawberries!).

TG glad to hear your DS2 is getting over the pox, my DS just has a few scabs to fall off now - so relieved they have all shrunk. He's got a really runny nose at the moment, not sure if its teething or a bit of a cold or a bit of hayfever?

J&G this nice hot weather is brilliant isn't it? I've been complaining about the poor Scottish summer but will now just enjoy the sunshine. I'm going to put fake tan on tonight as DH is out playing golf and I'm out tomorrow night and we've got a party on Saturday. I used to use it all the time but got out of the habit. Also having my hair done on Saturday morning - my roots are literally shouting for peroxide as they are so dark now blush

Good luck TG for going back on Monday, I need to start looking into college courses to book onto something to do from home and self employed.

Next have some nice high waisted jeans and some were in the sale so if you want some you can grab a bargain too!

we're going to have a bubble party in the garden whilst washing all the plastic toys, think we're going to get soaked but its all fun

Hello...I'm a newbie...can I play? I have a DD1 21 months and DD2 8 weeks.

Just starting to grapple with double buggy, sling, and toddler meltdown in public while you're trying to feed baby...! Not sure I ever want to venture out in public with them both ever again grin

Hi milki..just read your post...hahaha Cbeebies should be paid as a babysitter here...I'd have collapsed without it even though I always said I'd never sit them infront of the telly blush

Hi all! Hope everyone and their DCs are well, inc any newbies to the thread.

DS2 is much better- still looks like he's got the plague, but his temp is under control and he ate a little yesterday. He's also got another tooth through.

I'm back to work Monday!!!!!!! I am so excited. DH is having to take Monday off to stay with DS2 though, but it'll be easier on DS2, because of the pox he's missed his settling in time with one of the CMs, and he's quite clingy sad I will feel bad leaving DS2, but once we're over that, i know i'm going to love being in work again.

Jewels- where did you get your jeans? I'd love a pair of high waisted flares.

Hello Milki and welcome

I have DD1 aged 2.5 and DD2 ages 6 months. I am on a routine so the naps are fine but I don't put her down for a nap until she has started yawning and then, I sing to her and take her out of a room with any distraction then take her to her room etc. I find dong this every time she knows what is happening and settles within just a few mins (she self settles)

DD2 has 3 naps a day and wakes at 6am so that is when my day starts:

Nap 1 8-9
Nap 2 12-1400 (sometimes 1145-1345 et)
Nap 3 1600-1700

Perhaps try routine for a week or so and see if it works for you. Should give you time with your your other DD and also give you chance to plan your day around getting home for those naps I.E half an hour before at least.

Hello everyone else! DD woke at 6am today and it is going to be another scorcher! Have to go to supermarket today and get some more SMA progress (we use the ready made) and are low. Then maybe the swings for DD1 and then back home to feed DD2.

Still aching from tuesday's pilates/yoga class! And am as usual covered in fake tan blush

Big wave to everyone! wink

Hello, going to join you if that's ok but have intermittent access to computer so will apologise in advance if I don't post much......

Have two DDs - 26months and 5months. Am really struggling with DD2's sleep at the mo, in particular daytime naps (and feel that if I can get them sorted it might help nighttime sleeping) and wondered how other mums of two LOs tackle these kind of problems without abandoning the first born to amuse themselves (mostly in front of Cbeebies blush). I am convinced DD2 isn't having long enough/ enough daytime naps but once she wakes it can take me another hour to settle her again all the while poor DD1 is left to it - mostly just whining 'mummy mummy mummy'. Any tips? I feel bad and guilty about DD1 and also bad and guilty about DD2 because she is unsettled. And I feel TIRED!

Eeek, that turned into a vent, sorry. Any tips most welcome smile.

Hey kaybee, sorry to hear about your shitty day and vomiting baby - if it makes you feel an better, DD2 has ben diagnosed with fungal face infection after a visit to GP today. She has some creme and also some avent magic creme and see how she goes. So, at least your baby does not have giant mushrooms growing out of her face!! (only joking - but if left untreated who knows!! lol)

sat her, glass of wine, lovely salad supper, off to bed with a book soon. Loving the hot weather, but the girls arn't. Had to swap about grobags til I found the thinnest onebut DD2 would not sleep without sniffing her fleecy blanket but I have left her windows open and there is a draft blowing through so she seems to be alseep anyway.

Am attending my own leaving party for work and am hving my hair done then, plus wearing my new high-waisted jeans (excellent for baby-belly) and I will look HOT! Well, ok, the more I drink the better I'll look to all concerned so who knows how I will feel the next day blush [vomit emoticon]

Bye for now girl-eees and speak soon wink

hi everyone smile

sorry to hear your ds2 has the pox now Grrl.

DS2 has slept through the night 3 times this week, which has been great (exept when he wakes at 5.30am!) His vomiting has been getting worse and worse so went to docs yesterday and got infant gaviscon. It worked really well for the first 2 feeds, but today it's just stopped working and he has been throwing up as much as before - damn it!

DS1 has a cold I think, or could be teething?!? Who knows. But he is all grumpy and whiney which is just fab hmm

All the playgroups have finished which sucks, so now we are all bored stiff.

Went to mothercare this morning and spent too much money blush

Both boys are asleep so am watching aussie soaps on tv blush

Wow -- I go away for a day and all hell breaks loose on this thread (or maybe it's like that every day -- quite hard to keep up).

Trip to London went great -- DS was a star and really enjoyed himself which was good so I didn't feel bad about not taking DD. All he needs to keep him entertained is expensive day trips it seems... hmm

Hope your DS2 is a bit better, Grrrl.

Must go to baby group now (more entertainment for DS) -- or I'll end up with him screaming in frustration.

Too hot and sticky today!

loucee - bad luck re the car i noticed a scratch on our newish car the other day, was pretty sure i hadn't done anything, told dh and he went err, yes that was me! i was relieved!!) well done on braving the soft play. i haven't been since having ds2, thinking of trying on a rainy day over the summer (sure there will be one!).

chaotica - how went the trip to london? thanks for post on other thread, kind of lost it with dh again last night, need to keep an eye on things i think...

grrl - your poor ds2 and all of you really, having sick kids is exhausting. you are having a bad time of it atm. how was last night?

simpson - good luck today with the potty training! glad the zoo trip went well.

hazey - hope the hair is still swishy

jewels - i need a haircut big time too. must try and get it sorted soon, thinking of having more cut off than usual - i always just get a trim - it's just too hot atm.

fleecy - don't know about the poo-ing in the night thing, the others advice sounds good. if it doesn't work, maybe go in at your bedtime and check, you could prob do a quick nappy change without her waking up?

soph - hi your dd sounds like my ds1, into everything! i like hearing about girls that aren't all perfect and dainty as so many of my friend's girls are and it makes ds1 look like a thug! blush

um, is that everyone? haven't been on in a bit and lose track.

ds2 had slept through 3 nights in a row and i was so sure we had it cracked....then up at 4.30 today fed him but he was NOT going back to sleep, so came downstairs with him until he got hungry again, fed him, he fell asleep, took him upstairs to bed, then ds1 up, so brought him down - he's watching nemo [again] - so dh can sleep.
we have house guests too, they are moving into new house near us today, had a nightmare with packers yesterday so only got here at midnight. dh stayed up to let them in, but i couldn't sleep last night anyway, too hot.
so we'll all be tired today....
hope everyone has a good day

Hi everyone

Soph I was at Silverburn

Sorry to hear your DS2 has chicken pox Grrrl, thankfully my DS is on the mend now but that's been a week of sleepless nights and him being quite poorly. Was it on this thread earlier to put bicarb of soda in the bath to help their itching? I literally covered DS in calomine lotion too which seemed to help.

Oh Soph my DD (2.5) is the same with taking her shoes off. She does it in the shops, at toddler group and everywhere and ends up with filthy feet or socks. To date we've lost 2 different Clarks shoes and managed to get one back from phoning lost property

I took them both to softplay this afternoon with a couple of friends and it went surprisingly well. First time I had ventured there alone as DD has no fear and will climb really high and go down the steepest shutes, I'm just scared she gets hurt by one of the bigger children. DS loved the ball pen too

Hi everyone- haven't been on here for AGES!

Loucee- where are you from? Were you at Glasgow Fort?

Fleecy- my dd (was 2 on Friday) eats everything- prittstick, playdough, dirt, cat food...and she loves dipping things- like a piece of toast in a bucket of stagnant water and eating it- YUCK. She's always dressed beatifully but tends to take her shoes off so she's always wandering around outside in filthy socks, always has a snotty face and her hair is uncontrollable!

I never bothered about the toy thing. I just let them get on with it. Anyway if she ever had anything in her mouth it was normally something else- like a penny she had found, blutack, a window key- and once a razor blade from DH's razor- EEK- but we got to her pretty quick and she was absolutely fine. Now who sounds like a bad mother blush

Leaving DS2 cry last night was for the best- he slept for 1.5hrs in his cot after 10mins of crying. I'm dreading tonight sad

Grrrl what an awful time you are having right now. But, just think they say there is a certain amount of bad times we have and then they are gone! So, you should be in for a really really good patch soon (fingers crossed and hug emoticon)

Fleecy I can second what simpson said. Give fruit and veg up until 4pm and then afterwards only carbs. You know the trouble I was having with my DD2 (she is 6 months old) and this is the only thing that worked. She does still have the occasional poo in the night, but hardly at all compared to the frequency before. (but it does take a few days to bed in, so expect a week of doing it before you see results)

Hazey envy bet your hair is looking all swishy and swooshy. Can;t say the same! Mine needs cutting and I have decided to go for the kate moss fringe. (infact, posted in style and beauty and the majority voted for the KMF so I am going with them!)

DDs are in bed, am taking DD2 to doctors about that rash on her face and - as usual - it has cleared up alot now, but sod it Iam going to keep te appointment anyway. DH coming home by 2, and then after that it is a mad rush because I have bodybalance class tonight [exhausted emoticon] mind you, DD2 slept til 0620 this morning so I have no need to moan about being tired! Some of you really are tired!

speak later!

Sorry to hear about your DS Grrrl, how horrid.

Anyone know how to get your lo's out of the habit of pooing in the night? The last three days I've gone to change DD's nappy in the morning and it's been full - but the poo is obviously quite old so she's going early on in the night and it's sticking to her skin. After 3 days of this, her bum is so sore it's bleeding - this morning I had to put her in the bath and soak it off while she cried sad Have been using sudocrem but it's not enough! Don't want to have to wake her to check her nappy when we go to bed as I don't want to get her into the habit of waking up but not sure what else to do?

Oh Grrl, what a nightmare, I had chickenpox really badly when I was a teenager and had it in my throat and eyes, it was horrible, your poor little boy, I found the calamine with glycerin worked really well on dd2's bum, when she had it, because the spots were huuuge there.

Day started off horribly, dd2 screaming after waking up at 5, and not having a nap until 1.30! Dd1 tipped a bucket of dirt on her head, which meant I had to give her hair a really good wash (she hates hairwashing with a passion, and has made herself sick in the past with the fear of it), after which she sat on the sofa sobbing into a cup of milk watching Dorasad. When the girls fell asleep in the buggy, I ate a bag of pick n' mix white chocolate mice (I have a real addiction to cheap chocolateblush), and then felt really sick - oh dear!

Dh did girls tea tonight so I could go and have my haircut, it's so lovely to spend an hour on my own, I think it's the only time I really relax.

So with my hair feeling all lovely and sleek(for once!), I am going to pour a glass of wine and have a bath, and keep my fingers crossed that everyone has a peaceful night!

Evening, Ladies. Hope your weekends weren't all too similar to the week (mine was)

Simpson -- Kew sounds great for kids - and don't beat yourself up too much about the shouting (damn - we've all done it sad). DD has gone off her food this weekend and I've managed to remain strangely calm (quite how, I don't know -- maybe there's something wrong with me hmm -- but I presume she'll start eating again in time).

Off to London tomorrow on the train with DS (aka Shouty-Man) -- wish me luck (although the other passengers might take it worse than I will). I wish I could take DD instead -- she'd have loads of fun getting there (had to take her up an escalator twice yesterday because it was so exciting) but DS is still not eating much solid food and bf a lot as a result, so I can't leave him all day with my childminder and DP.

Don't know whether I can manage with just a sling (he's over 10kg now) -- probably better not or I'll be crippled by the end of the day. (He still prefers being carried on the front so he can see what's going on -- don't blame him really.)

Grrrl -- hope you get some sleep. (You must be slightly alert if you can still quote Shakespeare...) (or can you do that in your sleep?)

Had great day out today went to kew gardens and had picnic. Ds loved it, loads for him to do there, climb trees etc. DD was a star and beaming away at everyone.

When we got home it went tits up. Shouted at Ds for not eating his tea, made both Dcs cry blush Very cross with myself but i guess tiredness is getting to me sad

Hi all

Looong day today Ds wingey saying he is bored etc.How am I going to cope with another 6 weeks? He was doing my head in from midday today!! DD little star though.

JKS - yes only worked out how to do smiley faces!!! grin Got email from shoe people and will have them before we go away.Looked at Next online but did not have the sizes I wanted so may go to shop on wed.

Jewels - I only like red here although quite like beer too: bud (but only from a bottle!! or peroni) not a spirit drinker though. But in my yooof drank anything smile

Loucee - glad to hear DS better. Pain in the bum about your car. I would be fuming

Chaotica - Pontipines - too blardy many of them!!

Tattooed Grrl - Hope tonight is better for you sleepwise. Fingers X

Yes do tell is cazwa! (I have been to tromso, where I spent most of the weekend drunk on some drink called Red Square, but did see the midnight sun, and went trawler fishing. You can imagine that did the hangover the world of good [projectile vomit emoticon]) sorry girls that was definately TMI please forgive me

loucee I would totally try every other thing before CC. I mean, there is a baby yelling and a baby crying and where I can leave her to yell a little bit, if I hear her cry then I am right there. We have the webcam wired up so, for daytime naps, after laying her down (she self settles) then I can see how she is doing. If you can do this I do advise it, plus really cute to see her sleeping and moving and dreaming.

I also drink all alcaholic beverages - red wine great in winter, white great in summer, I do love the sparkly rose jacobs creek though, and champagne is good ANY TIME! Beer-wise love peroni but not that fussy - after a hard day house-wifing, is nice to relax with a drink (though from my previous paragraph you may be getting the impression I am a little too unfussy regarding alcaholic beverages blush aaah the days before children....[wistful emoticon]

TG bad night? My DS had 4 night feeds but he went back to sleep really quickly so I didn't feel too bad this morning and when they both got up at 7am DH took them downstairs and I slept til 8.45 - fantastic!

DS is much better, thanks for your good wishes. Hope the other little ones are feeling better soon.

Cazwa have you been on holiday? I've never been to Norway but my Auntie was from there, sounded amazing.

Some *&&%^^£@er scraped my car whilst we were at a shopping centre today, didn't leave a number or anything - I'm so annoyed. We'd gone to a newish shopping centre near Glasgow to look in the sales and only managed to get 1 top in total so it was a wasted trip anyway.

Jewels thanks for the tips they have given me some things to consider. He's such a wee sweety that I feel quilty contemplating CC but a whole nights sleep would make me such a better mum!

Hope you're all having a nice weekend, we're going to put on a film and crack open a beer (JKS nope I don't care what colour my wine is, nor what type of beer or spirit it is!! blush )

cazwa - welcome back go on tell us about it, so we can live vicariously...

simpson - how went the next sale? i'll pop along on tues when ds1 at nursery tho most will prob be gone but i can't face crowds.
re smiley face - is that because you've just figured out how to do it?! or because it's the first time you've felt happy enough? hope not.

glass of red tonight, yum

jewels - oh i would so love to see my shape changing (whilst hiding the chocolate, ahem), will get some other mums to join me i think.
tell your friend there's always takeaway!!

chaotica - oh i wouldn't want those pontipine children underfoot, always running off and getting lost, then flying about through the air...mind you surely they would entertain each other hmm
hope you are having a better weekend so far.

grrl - sleeeep, sleeeep, go to bed now!
i'm off any minute, tho i will read my book, dh out so i'm enjoying the peace

got nct reunion tomorrow, hope sun shines, house looks tidy enough, and kids don't hate each other...

morning all smile

I didn't want to drawn into a discussion on the merits of Makka Pakka as a household cleaner, but the more of I think of him turning up on that little Og-pog and giving the house a good clean and tidy, the more into the idea I get... wink grin

(Then I wake up and remember that the Pontipine children didn't really get stuck in the Tombliboo trousers...)

Back in reality, I didn't have the greatest of days yesterday (as almost predicted)... Among disasters, DD dived head first off the sofa (forgot about the edge hmm) and DS grabbed a (thankfully cold) cup of coffee and poured it all over himself blush

Those of you with chicken pox in the house, hope your LOs are recovering.

LOL fleecy re the watering can incident - DD1 has eaten soil, crayons and sometimes I fin something unusual in her mouth like some foil, or a fifty pence piece.

Loucee, yes totally understand you just have to go with it for now. My tips are these:
1. Give all feeds in day. My first is 0600, last is 1030.
2. Give fruit and veg for all day solid feeds except dinner where use carbs. This reduces chance of dirty nappy in night.
3. Izzy has 3 naps a day; 0800-0900, 1145-1330 and 1530-1630. I plan my day around these.
4. I use a size 4 nappy on izzy at night even though it is really quite large on her! But, it does stop her feeling wet so quick thus no baby waking because she is wet

Hope these help? But, DD1 slept through from 5 months but DD2 has only just really started in the last 4 weeks (she is 6 months) so - even with me following the same thing, did not work the same with both DDs.

makka pakka would definatly be handy around he house JKS, with that sponge (for cleaning the bathroom/baby sick off walls etc) and the og pog for doing the shopping. Pilates is good! I really look forward to it and can see my shape changing and just looking more fit really (not as in fit - fwwwoooarrgh but as in sporty fit)

I do hpe we do get out for a nice lunch because that would be nice for her to get out. I just worry that she has unrealistic expectations about what it'll be like. Imean, on TV babies are always happy to sit in their infant carrier and be placed on tables, left to it and are quiet and fall alseep and do not have colic, or wind pain or just fancy crying sometimes. And I have to admit I thought it was a bit like that, and got a bit of a shock. Just don't want her to get such a shock too.

Night-night wink

Toilet training next week so tied to house, although my mum has just rung and wants to take Ds to the zoo on tues depending on weather so may postpone till Wed. DD been a little star today & is starting to work out she has to open her mouth for solids!!

Jewels - your friend in for a shock. Reminds me of by RL pal who was the 1st among us to have a Dc and was insistent she would be out when Lo was 1 week!! We didn't know enough then to correct her!!

Loucee - sorry your Lo sick

lilQK - your poor dd, have the drugs started working yet? and what's happened about the car thing?
i worry about you all sportacus as he has an unhealthy interest in young pink girls....
quite like some of the beebies presenters tho.....
as for 'piggle' - nah not my type, makka pakka could be handy around the house tho grin

chaotica - how did you forget the wine?!?!?! fancy a LARGE glass tonight, was good and didn't have any last night, after 3(!) the night before.
am i the only woman who likes red, white & rose? when i had the mums round the other night they all only drink one colour, either white or rose, no-one seems to like red. i'm having red tonight, yum

jewels - re your friend, well she'll learn! but in those early days with just 1 it would be do-able, we did it a lot, cos they just sleep in their car seat/buggy and no-one even knows they're there! it's later on.....or with more than one.....no way!
how is pilates?? trying to persuade some others to come with me to a yogalates (?) class.

fleecy - re the toys, it's a hard one, cos of course you've got things in the house now that you didn't let dc1 have at such a young age. my plan - if you can call it that - is to put the non-ds2 toys in ds1's bedroom for 'quiet time' (seeing as how naps have gone out the window ) play. others may just have to hide for a while. others ds2 will just be allowed early.
the other issue is how will ds1 react???? sharing is not a fave concept wink
will we end up getting 2 of everything...
<<sees future of even more plastic crap toys ahead>>

ds2 had 2 feeds a night last few nights, really hope he gets the sleeping through idea soon - before i have to get tough (on myself) and try cc.

anyhoo, just time for cup of tea and charlie and lola before bed!

...Must go -- DS woke up as soon I pressed the first key to write this post (how do they do that??). (And his nappy smells baaaad) (Sorry! TMI)

It was me asking about how to stop the younger one getting the older one's toys. At least I know I won't be the only one!

DD is the older one (now 22 mo) and she ate some crayon the other day. She's also eaten cat food and drunk from the watering can (filled from our water butt - yuck!) before and survived. I'm not a terrible mummy (honest) but she's just so damn quick!

I think I'm just going to have to be more careful with DS when he's bigger. And ask DD to help make sure he doesn't eat anything dodgy.

I remember thinking we'd take our baby out with us everywhere, she'd sleep through from 6 weeks and everything would be fine. Hmph! Your friend will soon find out Jewels and you'll be able to grin on the inside!

My parents looked after DD yesterday. They put her down for a nap in her travel cot but around 45 mins later, heard her playing my old ukulele from when I was little! My Dad went in to see and she told him teddy had got out of bed so she had to as well. Dad said she should go back to bed and she said 'Not today Granddad'. Cheeky thing!

Morning all

Thankyou simpson thought it was just me! But that tight suit, those muscles, but yes he does love himself.

ROFL Grrrl regarding your last post grin

DD2 slept til 6 again this morning, DD1 is out with DH doing some shopping, and then I'll wake DD2, and look after her til 1030 when I set off for pilates. Really look forward to fridays

I was talking to my friend yesterday who has having a baby at the beginning of september. I am visiting her mid-sep and she suggested we could go for lunch. hmm I was trying to think of a nice way to explain it is very unlikely we will be going out for lunch in a restaurent unless she has a babysitter! But, she would not have any of it. She will learn....also offered to do housework/babysit whilst she had a sleep and she told me I was a guest so no housework, and she did not want anyone else looking after the baby but her! Think she may be in for a shock when her and her DH have not had 5 mins together in weeks and the house is a mess.....

Anyway girls, hope you have lovely days and talk soon.

Evening, Ladies smile -- y'all are making me feel like I've had an OK day, even without DP to help out at bath/bedtime -- much respect to all you people who manage on your own, although I'm sure I and the DCs would get the hang of it.

(Not that there's any room for smugness on this thread as having a good day when everyone else has had a crap one doesn't mean the tables won't turn tomorrow. [fingers crossed])

BTW -- How have I managed never to watch Lazytown? After all, I watch far too much Beebies, but I'm more of a Byron Wordsworth admirer myself wink but that might be because DP suggested that he might fancy Shelley Wordsworth (don't seem to see much of storymakers these days though). Is any one of us so bored and frustrated they'll admit to fancying IgglePiggle?? grin

Hazeyjane -- hmm: glitter and crayon-eating... sound promising... after all, they're non-toxic, aren't they. Might even be slightly nutritious grin

Just realised that I've had a night in on my own and completely forgotten to have any wine [shrug] This wouldn't have happened pre-children!

Anyway, DD2 slept til 0600 again today which was nice. She was a good girl all yesterday too but I think the seperation anxiety may have started; she is usually fine with mum and is all laughs and smiles but yesterday, she was not happy unless I was in the room and I was the one carrying her. I will try and make quick 2 second trips out of hthe room today and come back straight away so she realises I always come back - aparently that's supposed to help. Watch this space....

Hello everyone.

I found Medised the best thing with chicken pox, not sure why, I think the only reason the chemists have said 2's only is because some people were using Medised on top of normal Calpol, although the lady in Boots who quizzed me about ages of dd's said that Boots would rather stop selling cough medicines, Medised and Calpol night for children altogether!!!!!shock Pleease not until dd2 has stopped teething, she is a blardy nightmare at the moment because she has a molar coming through, and Medised is the only thing that seems to work.

I don't know about 2nd lo's getting into bigger lo's stuff, this morning dd2 managed to get covered in glitter and eat half a crayon, so my handy hints might be a bit useless.

Has anyone else's dc's started really fighting over toys yet? my too are at it all the time.

Just went to Boots and couldn't buy any calnight or medised as you aren't allowed to give to under 2 now. The bottle still says from 3 months but apparently it changed recently (I remember it being on the news about some cough medicines changing but didn't realise they had to be 2 now). Still, he can have normal calpol.

Hi Simpson and welcome smile and afternoon to everyone else.

All this talk of ttc is sending me to the gp's this afternoon to have a chat about contraception (otherwise I'll only have myself to blame).

Grrrl -- well done to your DS2 for sleeping so well. DS is improving all the time too (sometimes sleep 10 hours now, although I usually wake up wondering what's happened to him). I hope he avoids chicken pox.

Don't know who asked it, but I'm not sure how to stop the little one getting into the bigger one's things -- it's just beginning to be a problem around here and I haven't really done anything to avoid it. Better start segregating the toys...

TG - that's what the Doctor told me, that my DS (6.5mths) would get immunity from me but I think he meant DS wouldn't get the pox at all. He also said when DD got her first spots she would have caught the pox 10-16 days before than and been contagious for 5 days previous. So I think DS caught it off DD and although he is bfed it wasn't enough.

Hi again

Doh me, just read further up the thread and realise TG your kids have chicken pox too! My DD had it about 2 wks ago and still has some scabby spots but at 2.4 it isn't really bothering her and as she's a boisterous, fun loving, energetic (you get the picture wink ) toddler. The GP thought DS would be immune as I'm breastfeeding him and but as it turns out that's not the case. In some ways I'm glad we're getting it over and done with but it's hard seeing my wee one covered in spots and really itchy etc.

Jewels, the Mango sale is fantastic! I couldn't believe the amount of good items they had, usually I find sales a complete waste of time.

Talking of sales, who plans to go to Next this weekend? Any mad hatters here who like to queue up at 5am etc? Not me, I'll take my chances and go along at a more sociable hour.... like 7am grin

Kaybee, my DH often isn't home until past bedtime so I have the bath and bed time on my own as well. Not entirely sure which method works best but currently I bath DS first whilst DD plays with toys in the bathroom then I feed DS in the bathroom whilst DD has her bath then when she's out and dried and cleaning her teeth I pop DS to bed and then do stories and bed with DD.

Seem to have a bit more time in the evenings now as have managed to get DS2 in bed before 8 the last two nights - whoohoo! He is 11 weeks now, so seems to be settling down a bit, just hope he gets less windy at the magic 12 week mark too.

Hello again Loucee, and welcome, Skirmish smile -- you do indeed have a very small age gap there (at 17m between mine, I just can't compete).

I don't know whether to be impressed or fearful of you people talking about (or already having) number 3... I sometimes think about it, but my career would go completely down the pan (not very sympathetic to having kids in my line of work) and so I don't think I'll be going for it in the nearish future and then I'll be too old by far. (DP joked about it the other day though, which is always dangerous... grin)

Grrrl and Loucee -- hope your DCs get over the chicken pox soon (I know it takes a while).
