Career change in your 40s

Hi, have any of you retrained for a new career past the age of 40? It's for Woman and Home magazine - unpaid but there will be a lovely photo shoot and you can see the copy before we publish. I'm looking for a woman who has retrained for a new career - midwife, IT, electrician, plumber, nurse, OT, physiotherapist, dentist... You'll be photogenic and able to give a half hour phone interview. It's also important that you're in a new job, not your own business start-up (that's on another page!). You can reach me on beckysheaves@aol.com. Thanks very much.

Golly. How do you decide if you are photogenic enough? And if you are a deluded recently re-trained to be a plumber lady in your 40s and decide you think you ARE photogenic, but then aren't. What happens? Could be brutal you know.

Sorry you're a moose not photogenic enough hmm

No-one cares if a male plumber looks like the back end of a bus.

Well in fairness they do care at Women and Home. And quite right too.

I think only attractive women should have career changes in their forties. Everyone else can just jolly well staying doing the same boring job for the rest of their lives.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
