Summer safety tips for kids

Hi there,
I'm looking for mums with one or more children aged between a few months old and 4 years to talk to me about their tips on keeping kids safe in the summer. This is for a feature in Practical Parenting magazine.
I'm looking for mums' advice on coping with/ preventing the following:
- hay fever
- water accidents, eg at the beach/ paddling pools
- food allergies
- insect bites and stings
- food poisoning
- car sickness
- dehydration and heat exhaustion
If you would like to go ahead, you must be happy to email me a summertime digital picture of you and your child, and to chat to me on the phone this week.
Please contact me at beckc23@hotmail.com if you are interested.
Thanks,
Carole

remember to get childlocks for windows so that your toddler doesn't decide to launch himself out of it during naptime.

You see, this kind of thing is the very reason why I am stressed about going on holiday. Its almost as if this kind of thing happening is the norm, i.e. sunstroke, sunburn, dehydration etc.

My parents managed to take me to live in South Africa when I was 5, with no incidents of any of the above!

I have two children in that age group and don't worry about any of those things -- MrsBadger's checklist seems to cover it all AFAICS. Am I a negligent parent?

I'm quite bored, so may have to email my pearls of wisdom.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
