Need parents of primary school age children to join the parent panel for my book!

Hi

I'm a longstanding Mumsnetter and I'd really appreciate your help if you have a dc or dcs aged between 4 and 11.

Why: I'm writing a parenting book for www.whiteladderpress.com on the tricky issues and scenarios four to 11 year olds throw at their parents.

The primary school years are often viewed as the (relative) calm between the storms of toddlerhood and the teenage phase but that doesn't mean they aren't without their little challenges.....from children growing up too fast, through fussy eating and even how much pocket money to provide. There are stacks of books on babies and toddlers and then on teens but not so many that are scenario-based for the phase in the middle.

So, I'm looking for mums or dads to join an email based 'parent panel' for the book, to help me with the research.

WHAT WOULD BE INVOLVED:

You'd need to email me in the first instance on liatjoshi@googlemail.com (if you have a problem with this address try liatjoshi@aol.com).

I will then send a questionnaire to you to fill in once every couple of weeks. It would only take about 5 mins to do each one. There will be a total of about six over the next few months.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:
- all members of the parent panel who do the questionnaires will be entered into a prize draw for goodies like a bottle of champagne, a bottle of Chanel no. 5, some M&S vouchers and a bundle of parenting books from my publishers.
- everyone involved will be thanked personally in the book's acknowledgments section.

You will have the option of remaining anonymous or using a pseudonym if I quote you in the book.

(Note: I don't want to give my MN name here though as my email address is below and it'll blow my anonymity on the boards! Let's just say I've been around long enough to know Cod typse liek thsi, the camcorder comp at Christmas was hotly-contested (I was miffed I didn't win!) and that Fruit Shoots are not the done thing...oh but come to think of it, it'd only take a few days to work that out on here!!))

Let me know if you think you can help either by emailing me or posting on this thread.
Thanks,
Liat

Flame - maybe your name dropped off my list. Yes it is the same thing you did the two surveys for. I will check my mailing list and hope I haven't missed anyone else of the subsequent mailings.

Thanks for letting me know!

I need a few extra people to just do a two-page shorter survey for this book soon - to beef out the sample size. Any volunteers would be welcome. See the OP for more info incl. my email. You wouldn't even need to provide your proper name and I wouldn't be quoting you as it would just be short questions and answers (it can't be the same people as on the parent panel - i.e. anyone who has already filled in my surveys).

Thanks to all of you who are on the proper panel - you have been doing a fab job!

Another survey coming soon....and another prize!

I think it's a great idea, there ar eloads of books for toddlers.
I wish I'd had one on how to help your child move form one end of the country to the other and changing schools!
and the problems a 10 year old who thinks he's 14 can bring!

Hi

Thank you all, especially Cod!

Not a problem Quint - a lot of the issues are universal....fussy eaters, bedtimes etc.
A few might not apply to you but that's fine.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
