Dads needed for BBC interview on how they were treated by maternity services

Hi everyone

Have you and/or your partner got something to say about the way that you were treated by maternity services?

Were...
- you not allowed to stay with your partner overnight after the birth?
- the midwives teaching your partner about baby care when you weren't there?
- you not included in conversations about your partner's pregnancy and care?
- you not told about how you could help your partner during the birth?

The Fatherhood Institute - formerly Fathers Direct - is running a campaign next week and has been asked by the BBC to find some mums and dads who can talk about their experiences.

Duncan Fisher, the CEO, said: "Research clearly shows that the positive involvement of fathers right from the start is crucial; and that when professionals engage with fathers, particularly young or otherwise vulnerable dads, this makes a huge difference to mother and baby."

If you would like to help, please contact me at tom@dad.info

By the way, I'd like to introduce you to our brand new website for dads - www.dad.info - we have stacks of great information for expectant and new dads, and like mumsnet, we've got a set of pregnancy emails that dads can sign up for - ours are written specially for dads by Dr Mark Hamilton from Radio 1, and cover everything you need to know from work and money issues to how you can support your partners during the birth and bond well with your newborn baby.

Please visit www.dad.info!

Hi all

We are working indeed with Tom and dad.info on a number of things, but had assumed this would be posted in media requests, so have moved it across.

Thanks all!

Hi Tom there is a small fee for ads like this.

Message
Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
