Returning to Work after Children

NCT are keen to court the experiences of mothers and fathers of returning to work after having children. Who found issues of weaning and childcare difficult? And whether your personal feelings of guilt or liberation impinged once back in the workplace? Was it different to go back after two children rather than one? Finally, the NCT want a separate case study on a Dad who has had a good (or bad perhaps?) experience of Paternity Leave if you have any partners who might offer their comments.
I do hope you will have some views you won't mind sharing. If you do, could you email me direct on emma.mahony@btinternet.com so we can interact directly. Many thanks. Emma.

Well I returned to a new plae of work after having my first. Child was in nursery, and had to take some ays off when child was ill to look after them if no n else could (as nurseries have a general 48 our rule for illness). My employment was terminated by my employer (a legal firm), who I am now taking to the tribunal on grounds of discrimination.

I was also discriminated against during my pregnancy by a female colleague and I left that place of work because of her torment at 24 weeks. I vowed if I was ever discrminated against again whilst pregnant I would tak legal action - though I never expected it once the child had been born.

My husband was actually injured from a work injury near the time to having our child and was able to spend the first 8 weeks at home helping me, he has always said this was a god send...and would love to spend that much time with our next one due July, but fortunately he is back at work and will only get the 2 weeks paternity leave, but will be taking holiday also (hopefully a few weeks)to spend time with our newborn.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
