Have you or your partner been made redundant?

Hello

I'm looking for case studies for an article about redundancy for the Reader's Digest magazine. If you would like to be featured and would be willing to talk about the emotional, financial and practical aspects of redundancy, please get in touch at chloe.b-b@virgin.net.

I'm also interested in talking to you if a redundancy in the family has affected your relationship, or mabye been the springboard for starting something new and wonderful. Look forward to talking to you.

Chloe

I was 'made redundant' when I was about 15 weeks pg with dd1. Not long after I told bosses. I was coming up to having worked there for 6 months. Myself and one other guy were the last to start and both 'told' in seperate meetings the same day.
When I had dd I called to let them know (as they had asked - now suspect just out of politeness) and offered to bring baby in . . splutters and ooh wait til she's older/you're stronger etc. I received a card from the office and one of the signatures on it was the other guy who'd supposedly been made redundant (he actually started after me as well). Clearly he wasn't really made redundant. I was really upset by the whole thing, but didn't feel I could pursue it as it had been so long, was a new mum with other priorities etc.
It was a small business so I just assume they couldn't afford maternity pay.
Not sure if this falls into your remit.

Both my husband & I have been made redundant. My husband 3 times! For both of us it made us set up our own businesses - from which we've not looked back!

Hello

Thank you all for that. Am e-mailing you now. The article has now been put back a couple of months but am still interested if there are any other stories out there.

I'm also looking for case studies for an article about workplace bullying. If you or anyone you know has suffered and can talk about it the e-mail address is chloe.b-b@virgin.net. As always, I'm also interested in any partners of friends of victims who feel the bullying had an impact on their lives.

Thank you all again.

Chloe

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
