Police Camera Action - Contributors

ITV1’s Police Camera Action is looking for mothers who drive to take part in the UK's leading road safety TV programme. Every programme is driven by a strong road safety message and reflects well on the work of the police forces and organisations featured.

We look for innovative ways to demonstrate road safety issues. For one programme in our forthcoming series, we’re looking for a cross-section of regular drivers who would be willing to re-take their driving test. The aim is to see whether experienced drivers retain the skills gained as learner-drivers.

As part of that cross-section we are looking for mothers who are regular drivers. The driving test would take place under normal test conditions with an approved examiner in a driving school dual-control car. We’re not looking to criticise any of the individuals who take part and would expect that the mums will be some of the safest and best drivers.

We’ll be filming this in the week beginning the 3rd March during the daytime and would only need you for a few hours on one day of that week. If you’re at all interested in taking part, do give us a call even if you just want to find out a bit more about it. Calling for more info won’t commit you in any way.

I’m really hoping to hear from some of you.

Best wishes
Lyndsay Kearney

I do drive but am far too chicken to contemplate this... (also have only driven an automatic for the last three years, so would stall before I made it out of the test centre car park) grin.

Yes I'm sure they can't expect mums to be 'among the safest and best' if they have 2 like mine being screamed at for wriggling out of their car seat straps grin
I have had clean license since Oct 1980 but can't volunteer for this as every time anyone watches me driving I act like I'm on my first lesson! Crunch hop hop crunch!

If anyone does volunteer don't forget to post about it so we can all watch the prog and then come and post our comments after grin wink

Why does it affect your driving if you're a mum or not ??
(are they going to do the test with 3 screaming toddlers in the back do you reckon grin)

I'm guessing that they are going to get a "typical mum", a "boy racer", a "Sunday driver", perhaps a sales rep who covers hundreds of miles a week, and have them all resit the test, then draw Profound Conclusions from the results.

Hello

Thanks for all of your replies so far.

Just to let you know that filming for this will be taking place in SW London/Surrey so you will need to get yourself there on the day. We are still looking for people to take part so if you are interested please get in touch with me via the details below.

In addition to mothers that drive we are also looking for regular drivers aged 65+ who would be interested in taking part so if you know anyone in the area who fits the bill please pass them my details.

Thanks Again
Lyndsay Kearney

Ah Yes, in Meeja land, nothing can be filmed ooop North unless its a grim and gritty documentary/soap series or piss take of Northerners.

Bah Humbug.

Most of Inspector Morse was filmed ooop North, IIRC, although it was pretending to be Oxford at the time.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
