Ohhhh! The bloody band only have gigs advertised up until the end of this month!

Gah!
Hi

I have bought my DP a Play Station 3! and an extra conroller and 2 games!!! He's well into them and I have put him of getting one since July

I went to a local game shop rather than a big chain and asked if he would do me a deal. I started a savings club with him and have been saving since July!! I asked his parents and sister and my mum and they all chipped in so it's not too bad.

I'm so excited as he is so hard to buy for and he always gets me really cool things and I can never get him anything that good as he buys everything himself.

This will be the one and only good present I ever get him so I'm dead pleased!

He is 36 but a big kid really
That was for last Christmas and they saw the band in Feb 08.
Rhubarb, DH's friends wife got 2 tickets to see a band he loves and she doesn't think much of, and DH was chosen to accompany him. They had a fab time.

blimey, even reading all these good ideas I am struggling. DH really difficult to buy for and has birthday near Christmas too. Even reading this thread, which is full of very good ideas, nothing jumping out which he would like.
So far, I've got him a shirt (boring), and a fleece. Have also got him 2 Obama books - Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance and The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream

Will probably get a couple of CDs.

Then am stuck!
Ooh!! Teebee, I am asking MIL to get husband an axe (big one, to split logs), too.
He wants a new stereo hifi, so that will be quite pricey, he will choose & order, I will wrap.
He needs a new shirt or 2.

Also thinking maybe a sex toy...to make the new year go with a bang (this would be his favourite present, I'm sure).
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Wed 26-Nov-08 16:53:02
An A-Team t-shirt
An axe
A tarpaulin thing that you make into a shelter when camping (sounds weird but is fab)- from the Ray Mears website
Bottle of Baileys
Fire stick (for lighting fires without a match)
Me!
We agreed no presents this year (but it's my birthday on 23rd so he's not allowed to forget that, particularly as it's a 'big' one). But he lost his wedding ring on holiday in the summer (swimming in the cold sea, it just slipped off, and we only got married in February this year!). It's taken me ages to finally get round to ordering a new one, and he doesn't know I've done it, so I thought I'd give it to him on Christmas Day. I was thinking about getting it engraved, with something similar to custardo's suggestion grin.

Oh, and I love the idea of the family ski for the Wii. Might do for DS... and we can all pinch it.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Wed 26-Nov-08 16:31:22
Can't decide between a 'le cube' coffee machine (he drinks loads of coffee, I don't at all, so it's not a sneaky way of getting something I want too) or a new watch. There's a rather nice Armani one being advertised on aol from John Lewis. BUT, labels are wasted on him - he just doesn't care, although it's a handsome-looking watch. But he says he still really likes the one I gave him as an engagement present (although it looks very tired and battered nowadays).
We're going to America for Christmas, so anything I get him or the DCs that's larger than very small will have to be in the form of a wrapped photo of the item, to be had once we get home.
I haven't bought him anything yet.

Thinking about getting him shoes and some cleansing/grooming stuff. Will probably pinch the "Britain from Above" book idea.

Snow Patrol tickets

The complete Monty Python DVD set

Grand Theft Auto for the X box

I-Tunes vouchers
Squeaver, great site, that'll do me fine for stocking fillers for DH, my brother and my uncle grin
DH is getting...

DS Lite and the Inspector Layton game,
Family Ski for the Wii,
an Ipod thingy that means he can listen to the radio on it if he wants to,
Old fashioned sweets etc for his stocking
A photo calendar from the cats

Running out of money but feel I should be buying him more. He is a lovely DH.

I have just been shopping on my lunch and bought DP some skincare stuff from boots No 7. It's 3 for 2 at the moment and you get a free gift so I got 6 items and the free mens gift for 27 quid which looks nice when it's wrapped in cellophane like they did it. would never have thought of buying it that way otherwise.

would also be a nice idea for a female i think while they're doing the offer.

not sure what else i'll get him but not spending much more as we're skint.

Great ideas these! I know there is a band he really really loves, but I loathe! They're not a popular band however but I shall see where they are playing and if I can get him some tickets.
Have just got him a remote control helicopter as well,so feel a bit better now!
So far just a Benedict Allen DVD (he has has one of these the last few Christmases/Birthdays, I think he now has em all, so heaven knows what I'll do next year), which he asked for as he aspires to be a Gentleman Explorer grin
Don't know what else, will scan thread for inspiration.
pmsl @ custardo. Almost worth getting married again just so I can do that.

my friend and I were discussing budget presents and came up with the idea of making tokens that can be cashed in at any time - such as washing up, cooked meal, a date!! We thought that this way you wouldn't end up spending loads of money on rubbish just so they can open a present. We also think it would be very funny to put expiry dates on the back (in very small print) - just like all those tesco vouchers that have gone out of date when you go to use them!!
wedding ring

i told him today, after i noticed our recycle bin had been stolen becuase t wasn'tbrought in, and out normal bin full, becuase it wasn't taken out - that i am going to have it engraved with "don't forget bin day"

he said " don't you fucking dare!" grin

dp has got

3 books on wine/beer making from charity shop (the older the book the better it tends to be) - 1 using tinned fruit, should be interesting (and I use the term loosely <sigh>)

bottle of rum (and I've stocked up on frozen cherries, which he likes in it instead of ice cubes)

cheap and nasty sweets - the more additives the better, if it's not glowing then he's not interested. (his fave)

a nice little pot thingy ona little stand with chequerboard pattern for his dice (also charity shop)

we promised to cut down to minimum this year. SO I went a little over the top blush.

Never mind
50th anniversary box of lego ( the one with the gold brick)
Clinique for Men face stuff at huge expense, because he is so vain.
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Tue 25-Nov-08 20:14:06

A box of jaffa cakes.
I don't know yet.

He wants one of those clocks that wake you up gently with a fake sunrise that lights up the bedroom gradually over the space of 2 hours but I know that it will wake me up ridiculously early after 2 seconds and I don't love him that much grin

Oooh very nice NP. Where will ye go??
I bought dp a sea fishing rod, im going to try and get Conn igulddens Genghis Khan book and a few odds and ends from the kids, im hoping for some new clothes to help me feel less frumpy!
Eyebrowns????

(but we are the Brown family afterall.)

he will probably get one small thing as we are broke
Ooooohhhh yes I could just buy him a strap - well that would raise a few eyebrowns on xmas morn! wink

So he has a flappy todger does he? How about a strap then to secure it in place? Or a Prince Albert?
I have stolen an idea from here and have booked DH and I evening tickets to the Rothko exhibition at the Tate modern, I have booked a table at nice restaurant and a night in a lovely hotel. In laws are having the kids!

Hello Rhubarb, how did your sale go on saturday?
Noooo - although he has to nip home sometimes in a hurry because running makes him want to go rather urgently!

Getting him those trousers that are really full length cycling shorts so his todger isn't flapping around int he wind getting cold.

If he did anything in his pants he wouldn;t be coming home with them on they would have to be binned on the way - I don't even like his parping in my presence!
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Tue 25-Nov-08 14:57:40
"trouser jobbies"???? Isn't a jobby what you do on the loo? Are you saying that your man goes jogging with little jobbies in his trousers?

Well he's getting a tripod for Christmas. We're so loving towards each other (I'm getting a new diary)...

His b'day is not long after Christmas though and he's getting:

- something from this indian cooking website

- a Carl Hiassen book about golf

- a large pepper mill (fnar, fnar)

- the DVD of the interviews David Frost did with Richard Nixon

and probably some socks. He quite likes getting new socks.
Goping in a short while to get DH some tight fitting lycra trouser jobbies for running as he came home from his rum on Sunday with a near frostbitten todger! Not nice in any respect I can tell you.

Luckily just picked upa 30% off nike voucher at our gym too so am even going to save a bit of money on them too.

Also got him some slippers and DVDs - he got me a dog - and he will get me other stuff when I buy it with his CC!
Liverpool shirt.
series 4 of House (not a surprise), and a book I know he will love (small surprise
He's got me 2 lovely tea mugs (not a surprise, obviously) and a small surprise.
im getting dh this as he is a geek but he is a clever geek and has a lovely new office

i also saved up all my pennies and paid for a family holiday over xmas and new year so tahts really my prsent to dh and the dds

Well I've looked at used Nintendo DSs on Ebay as I had a vague notion of getting dd one, but they are going for around £60 used, so I needn't bother looking at the Xboxes.
Absolutely :-)

How about a used one from Game? Not sure how much they are tho.

Hmmm, I only have around £40 to spend on him.

He'd LOVE a Wii thingy, or an Xbox. Could I make one out of card and sticky back plastic do you think?
I meant DH, not DD. :-)
Have got DD a Ralph Lauren oull-along suitcase thingy (overnight size), a Wii fit, a tassimo coffee thingy (he has been asking for years - I am hoping he keeps it on his desk in work and not in out kitchen), a photo calendar from DD and DS, and i;ll get him a couple of stocking filler things as he has been a good boy this year! :-)
