I had a missed MC last summer, had medical treatment. It was all quite distressing but I thought it was just bad luck. I had conceived very quickly after stopping the pill (had not actually had a period and then suddenly realised after 3 months that maybe there was an explanation for that. It didn't work out, at 9 weeks the baby was only 5 week size (although there was a heartbeat) but then it had gone next time.

Since then have had very light (virtually non existant) periods, but have been having positive ovulation tests. Had been referred to infertility clinic, was waiting for day 2 bloods to be done.

This last cycle was very strange though- my last period was 9 weeks ago but I had all bloods done which showed I had not ovulated, at least up until 4 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I suddenly vomited in the sink while brushing my teeth, defintiely something odd happening.

Bleeding started on Tuesday, initially though was a late period so had bloods done on day 2. Then last friday I was suspicious this was not right so tested - had a very faintly positive test. Stayed positive over the weekend, but unfortunatley was negative by monday. Still light spotting. I went to EPAU on tuesday who managed to get a preg test done on the bloods I had last week (28 - positive but only just), but not detectable on the one I had done at the clinic. ultrasound showed just thickened endometrium, no fetus/pregnancy.

So obviously a very early miscarriage. they say that without such a sensitive test I would never have known, they may well be right, but it is still a miscarriage, isn't it? Not sure if it is better to know or not.

Feel OK about it, but am unsure what to do now. Am nearly 36 so worried about age, no successful pregnancies so far. Am also getting very anxious about the possibility of implantation failure, endometrium not getting developed properly because of the light periods etc.

Anyone been through this? Any thoughts?

not really the same, but, I had 2 mc's in the past, one that needed a d&c and one at a very very early stage. One happened before my first ds, and one 2 years after....anyhow....I have altogether 3 ds's now...so, 2 mc's don't mean that you won't go on to have succesful pg's...

I've had 2 mc in the last year and also have quite light periods, only really bleed for a couple of days. I have had a successful pregnancy though 8yrs ago which was conceived the first month of being off the pill. I had some blood tests after my 2nd mc in Jan which have all came back as normal. Unfortunately I think we'll be in the same situation and have to wait till we've lost 3 before they'll do more indepth testing. I'm 36 too so like you am concerned about age. the EPU kept telling me that whilst 1st mc are really common 2nd ones unfortunately are still quite common. Perhaps you may get some answers and/or support from your infertility clinic.

I've just miscarried for 1st time after 6weeks +2 - hence my looking at Mumsnet talk for 1st real time.
I have a beautiful DS and had light periods before he came along. Acupuncture helped increase the thickness of my endometrium just before egg implantation (he was IVF). - which is why this mc was so sad as it was a natural miracle.
Oh well, but yes, perhaps consider acupuncture.
