I know a repellent Reuben, so that biases me against it rather - but other than him I like it. It means red iirc- which may or may not impact if you have red hair in the family? Can't say I'm personally keen on Coco, but prefer it to Nicky/Niki/Nicki permutations
I love them all particularly Coco. It's not as whacky as all that. Some of you women are so straight it makes me larf. There are two Coco's in my ds's year alone.
Lovely names - I was just watching TOPT2 and an odd 70s band were singing a song about a Coco and I was thinking what a lovely name it is. Surely Chanel outweighs the clown connatation? But I named my dd after a showgirl/transvestite so I don't hold much with connotations! Reuben is fab - are there biblical meanings with that name?
I like both too. Bit different without being too different. Personally I quite like Coco too. I have this vision of a sweet little toddler with big brown eyes and gorgeous dark brown ringlets tottering around in her mums shoes.. (although saying that... we did live next to a large fat pampered persian pedigree cat that was called Coco! )
Nicole is getting very popular as a name. Coco would get coco the clown or coconut. Not keen on Reuben (I suppose he could shorten to Ben). Sorry-you did say to be honest.
Do you say 'Neecol' (french way) or Ni-coal? Cornsilk: or do you say "Cocoa - drink time"?!! Reuben is different - probably won't be another in school...I think a boy or man could live with that..
I don't think Nicole is page 3, but I think it's dated. But then, Melanie is dated and I think that's a lovely name. So dated just means knowing what you like despite the trends perhaps? Although Coco is very urban chic, but I like it.
I like Reuben but probably wouldn't chose it myself. Only Reuben I've ever met was at Uni, he was very good looking and everyone fancied him. Haven't come across any at school or nursery yet. If he really hates the name he can call himself Ben.
Coco - love it, it's a nickname so she would be able to drop it easily at school/work. Not sure about Nicole, it's a bit 1980s (was the name I wanted for my dd when I was looking into the future at school).
Yuk @ Reuben, especially as my friend has a great big slobbery dog called Reuben. Hmmmm, jury's out on Nicole Quite like it in a quirky kinda way. That ok!!?
I would go for Nicola rather than Nicole, I think. Nicole just seems a bit less classy/grown up, if you know what I mean. I really like both Coco and Reuben. If I wanted Coco for a shortening, I think I'd be looking for a different long name to shorten it from, really.
