Lorianna

Thanks??

p.s. don't say that it is chav because I don't know what that means, - but be negative if you are being honest!!

I will be honest but not cruel.

I think both names have a sort of loo-la prettiness about them, but they are also sort of vague. I can imagine that people would misremember these names and call the child something similar but not quite right.

I like Laura, although it's a little subservient or something. It isn't as feisty as some names iyswim.

Laurel has more back bone imo. Just my opinion of coures.

Leonora is beautiful. It has the same sounds but it is stronger, less open to being mashed up I think.

Leonora or Laurel would be my suggestions. I think they are in the same style but more confident somehow. More established. More classic than Laurianna.

HTH!

Have tricky surname that most names REALLY clash with so we're having a nightmare!

Thought I'd solved it!!

LOL

sounds like a madeup name and something that the poor child would not be able to spell.

She will forever have to spell it to other people and everyone will mis-spell it.

Laurie is pretty but most say Lorry.

there are so many more beautiful names out there without using a made up name.

Laurianna is not the way to spell it - that really sounds made up in a bad way - as in a you can't spell way. Juat because you could call a boy Laurie doesn't mean it extends to that iyswim.
lorianna sounds feasible and kind of American - not too bad!

I think it's ok. I don't think you should worry about a child not being able to spell it. Some people have weirdly wonderful surnames and kids get around having to spell those.

I like Oriana. I think Laurianna/Lorianna would be less likely to be mispronounced if you made it two names, Laurie-Anna. That might be a little too reminiscent of the The Waltons though.

Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By StarlightMcKenzie on Thu 15-May-08 21:13:32
Dunno, - I'll have to ask him. He's out at the moment.

He did kind of agree to rhianna when DS was due but then that singer came along and sang about umbrellas so we promptly dropped it.

Oriana is just one syllabal more so he might go for it! He doesn't like committment though so he'll probably just say 'maybe' like he usually does and we'll be no further forward.

I'll let you know how it goes, and thank you so much for the suggestion!!

LOL mumbot! I think we're resolved, - for now at least! Won't have an issue with middle names coz DH thinks they're unimportant!

Just a quick question! Is Oriana pronounced Ori-ana, - or 'arna'? I was assuming it was ana - or would I need two n's and then does that defeat the objective!?
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By tortoiseSHELL on Thu 15-May-08 21:48:31
Definitely not 2 n's! It probably is slightly more of an 'arna', but if you made the first syllable more of an O (as in orange) rather than Or, then it could be more of an 'anna' sound at the end.
