Pascale is nice, and is most definitely a girl's name - the male version is Pascal. There are 97,907 female Pascales alive in France according to Meilleurs prenoms (although most of them seem to have been born in 1962 )
Not so keen on Juno, not sure why.
Eliot - never heard of this as a girl's name, but it might work, has quite an American feeling to it for me.
Pasquelle is just illiterate, why on earth would anyone call their child that in preference to Pascale?
Juno is lovely, I used to know a Juno who was tall, elegant, very committed to her work for a big NGO, and lots of fun. But the fact that quite a few people on here think it couldn't possibly be a girl's name is a bit of a problem, IMO (even though they are obviously wrong, they are very sure of their own rightness!). OTOH, maybe I am being just as ignorant, but the only female Eliot I know of is George Eliot, so I think your dd might have a hard time with that one.
Eliot is a bit too boyish, but I love Pascale and Juno. Have you seen the film with the character Juno in it - she talks about why she was called that - it is lovely.
I love the name Pascale and think it's very pretty but I'm not sure it would be 'right' in a predominantly English-speaking country. The two Pascale's I have known were both French-speaking.
Eliot - great name but I have never heard it used for a girl so if I saw the name written down somewhere I'd assume your DD was a boy.
Juno - would be viewed as quite 'alternative'. If that's what you're after, then cool!
I like Juno but feel due to the film people will raise eyebrows not knowing the origins of the name, but assuming you named her after a film about a knocked up teen...
Juno is this year's trend because of the film (and, though I thought the film was great, I don't think I would want to name my child after a character like that).
Eliot is a boy's name. I don't even like it for boys (lots of boys in France get called Eliot/Elliot/Eliott at the moment).
Pascale is the feminine of Pascal, an outdated French name. Not pretty at all.
Juno is not masculine but uber-feminine surely? Juno-esque people are voluptuous aren't they? So if you think she will be like that when she grows up go for it!
cripes - this kicked off after I went to bed and I didn't see it. To all the people who said it was 'cruel' to give a girl a 'boys' name they are all girls names. I may have typed a bit quickly by using the word 'masculine'. That isn't what I meant. What I actually meant is that they are not particualarly feminine, whick is what I want. I dont like the girlyness of the ie and y ending names and wanted to avoid that mainly - I wouldn't of course give a girl a boys name, as someone said that would be like calling a boy Sue.
Like Juno (although for me that has uber-feminine, or at least womanly connotations). Don't think Juno was enough of a big film to be worth worrying about. Not keen on either of the others.
Completely understand the desire for a non-girly sounding name - there was a great thread recently on 'feisty' girls names - despite the word feisty there was some fab ideaas on it... might be worth a look
btw, can I please be there when you have had dh's vascectomy reversed, been pregnant with the wee man and ask obliging dh to call him Tiffany?!?! think that would definately be a kodak moment
My friend has a name which can be male or female but is usually used for men (like Eliot). She absolutely hates the fact that at work people call up and ask for "Mr ---"...
notabanana in that case when people get pregnant that should be set a list of criterias that apply to which names they can and cannot use
for example
I would only be allowed either Scottish or Irish girls names and nothing deviating from that
its ridiclious to presume that you are only allowed to use a name because its a perfect fit, there are thousands of names out there to choose from and it should be one you love not one you think others will approve of
AND NONE OF THE NAMES SHE IS CONSIDERING HAVE PARTICULARLY MALE MEANINGS
I think its time for me to leave this thread as its not even mine
I will be naming any daughter I have after my dead dad. I don't like the name for a boy but I do like the name 'Stevie' as in Stevie Smith, or Stevie Nicks.
I once sat next to a teenage girl called Stanley on a bus - it really suited her.
Eliot is most definitely a boy's name - and a very common one round out way.
Pascale is lovely if you're French - but I think it might sound a bit odd with an English last name.
I like Juno - but everyone will think you've named her after the film.
There are some fab non-girly names - but I really think there's a difference between avoiding a non stereotyped girls name and using a very defintely boy's name. It'll be such a pain for her every time she meets someone she's only known by email at work or something like that. My neice is Sam, and, particularly in a work context she finds it irritating. Particularly as the more senior she gets the mor epeople assume she's a bloke!
Pascale is def a girl's name. But I don't like it because it reminds me of someone who flirted with someone I liked . Juno is beautiful I think, much better than it's Italian equivalent, Giunone...

I wouldn't say "Oh - like the film" as I have no idea which film you are talking about. I did think like the beach in the Normandy landings but I wouldn't hold that against a name. No one will remember the film in a few years so if you like Juno go for it.
Irrespective of whether it's a boy's name or a girl's name, Eliot is very downmarket. Pasquale would be all right, but would raise eyebrows if there are no French ties in the family. Juno is trying too hard to be posh.
I love the name Pascale! It was on our shortlist for a girl when we had ds. The only thing i didnt like about it was that it means Easter - if i remember correctly, which just doesnt 'mean' anything to us. Juno is pretty cool too. Not too sure about Eliot - reminds me of the blonde doctor in Scrubs, not that theres anything wrong with her. aaaaah dadada has just said that!
