Lilac Viola Selene Estella Chantal Jordan Stella Tara Heulwen Luna Lynette Rainbow Sita Sorcha Storm Tallulah Anthea Ebony Enya I have a book here...there are loads.
Ah yes I was originally thinking Clover but thought it was too margarine like......all I need is a few people to say 'absolutely not, it's gorgeous' and I might be swayed....
Roy Plomley (he who invented Desert Isalnd Discs0 had a daughter called Almond. It was discussed on here a while ago and the consensus was that it sounded like a pudding "Could I have another slice of that delicious Almond Plomley?"
Clover is beautiful. Ditto Rowan, which I always think is just the coolest girl's name in existence Star and Rain are gorgeous too though only if you love them. Really don't like Almond, sorry. Can't tell you why though. Quite like Tamarind but not keen on Tam which is the obvious shortening IMO? Anise is pretty but IMO will be called Anais if that bothers you. She'll have to spell it a lot.
Cassia (apparently pronounced Cashia) is a beautiful spice name.
Don't forget the Credibility Test (very subjective but so is anything name-related)
Secretary General of the United Nations Bluebell Smith Prime Minister Blossom Smith Professor Bluebell Smith Hello Portland! On guitar - Bluebell Smith!
I know a little girl called Violet. It's a lovely name but I always want to call her Violent ('cos she is!)
Jade? Can't think of any others. I love Rowan, there was a girl called Rowan in a children's book I loved, she ran away from home... wish I could remember more about it (title, author) - anyone??
Or you could go completely down the margarine route and call her Flora Clover, - or to show you're not prejudiced against butter, Flora Clover Buttercup
and, the name of a lovely little old lady I knew once - Bunny!
Going back to the point about thinking whether it would sound OK for a Professor or Prime Minister - Professor Bluebell Smith - do you think that, one day last century, a certain Mrs Obama sais to her husband "I'm thinking of calling him Barack. Does Barack Obama, President of the United States sound OK'?" Bet her husband would've said "Nah, but I like that name, we'll call him that anyway"
Some lovely names on here. My dd middle name is violet. Wanted Genevieve Lake but DH didnt like it. If this baby is a girl I will get my own way this time Although was quite warming to Brooke, but have more to chose from now been on here.
What do you all think of Sol? It means brightness. I know it's also short for Solomon and hence a boys name but do you think it still works as a girls?
