Hi My DS is 12mo, Excellent sleeper! Usally goes down at 7-7.30pm wakes no later then 7am. But for some strange reason he's started waking at 5am, sometimes 4.30am. wide awake, laughing blabbing ect... Can't get him back to sleep! i'm nackered, starting to get annoyed with him for doing this. I don't understand whats gone wrong?
Yer, i thought it might be that. but we use a black out bind too, It's been this past week, every morning. it just so hard to stop each spec of light getting in. i'm so not up for this all summer!!
My two did the same. They're still up before 6 most days and they're now 5 and 3. it's just what children do as far as I can see. Nothing I do will make them get up any later, and we have a blackout blind.
Arr! I feel for you LyraSlivertongue, I couldn't bare that! I'm not a morning person at all. so i'm praying that dosen't happen to me! I've tried letting him settle himself back to sleep, but we are in the same room! So its even harder, coz he knows i'm there, he'll cry untill i get up! I cut out the afternoon nap a wile ago, but he usually needs a nap around midday. should i cut that out too?
Don't cut out any more naps. He needs naps at his age. He'll just get over-tired, fall asleep for the night too early and get up even earlier. In my experience putting them to bed later doesn't help at all.
Same happening here, 4yr old wakes at 8am and 2yr old at 6am - would be 5 if given the chance. Had minor bursts of success with zero tolerance approach, giving small drink of milk, tucking duvet in, stating that it is the middle of the night and ignoring pleas - usually last about 10-15 mins but sometimes this is enough for him to fall back to sleep. Another strategy is providing toys and books but this doesn't induce sleep, just prolongs cot based activity and provides an opportunity for me to get my head around the idea of getting up. There is then a period of coma-like behaviour from me, slumped on the sofa whilst ds watches CBeebies. Still has 2 hour sleep in the afternoon and would be intolerable without this so can't cut that out yet. I'm just coming to terms with the idea that my dcs have different sleep patterns. Totally sympathise and hope someone has a miracle cure.
I would love nothing more than to put DS in his own room- but unfortuatly we are in a 1 bed! I'm possitive that knowing i'm across the room plays a major part in it all! Not too bad this morning, He woke up at 7.30am it was a lovely! i know wht your saying "onceinalifetime" I too slump on the sofa wile DS watches CBeebies. Only problem is it don't start till 6am, so alot of the time we just watch the trailers!
