Alexandersmummy - have you spoken to anyone about this? We are off the the docs tomorrow but am a bit concerned as when I spoke to him on the phone he said he "had never heard of this" so am not sure if he is going to be very useful.
Thanks all for answering so fast, I think I will try and get an appointment with GP, I was worried the GP might be dismissive of it but it sounds as if it might be something to get checked
also, and maybe watsthestory knows more because I can't exactly remember, they told us that there is an age (and it's some time as a toddler/young child) where the tonsils do appear large in their throat and then they grow and their tonsils don't grow much more. But I can't remember all the spiel. We saw a paed in the end who was lovely and explained it all (and I have conveniently forgotten all of it!)
My dd does this. She had x rays done and has very large adenoids. They were going to remove them but at he last minute decided not too. Apparently they can grow back <vomo> and also you are born with the size they will always be so as she grows they will appear smaller iykwim.
She gets awful nasal swelling at night so she has to use flixonase spray even though she is only 5
yes, please go to the GP. One of mine had/has v large tonsils and this used to happen. It's worth getting him checked out, especially if it is disturbing his sleep.
My DS is 2.6 and has always been a very good sleeper. he goes down at 7.30pm and is up at 7-7.30am, however he has always been a snorer! the problem is that over the last few months his snoring has got a lot louder, and I mean alot, you can hear it through walls, or from upstairs in his room to downstairs in the living room. He hasn't had any colds, nor does it matter what postion he sleeps in. Even when he sleeps in his car seat when we're out it's the same. The last couple of weeks he has woken himself up with it, and it takes ages to settle him back down, I am completley knackered having to get up all the time (I also have a DD 3months old) Any idea why he snores/what to do/advice?? Thanks
