Thank you so much lisa, that makes me feel a whole lot better. I have put her name down for 4 mornings at pre school in sept, she will be 3 years 1 month. We have had lots of friends around to play and been to their houses too. Every month she seems to grow in confidence and i think pre school will help. Its lovely to hear that your dd has settled into nursery/school and has blossomed. Phew! Its such a worry being a Mum! Thanks for your reassurance I really appreciate it

Kernow, thanks for your post. With regards to DD1, she is still reserved in situations where she doesn't know people but she has blossomed in the last year or so. She went to nursery 2 afternoons a week from 2.5 years and though quiet seemed to really enjoy it. Since she turned 3 she has been going 5 mornings and it's really made a difference to her confidence. She used to talk in a whisper to the teachers but now she regularly puts her hand up to volunteer for things and talks to the other children and teachers alike. She is by no means the outgoing one in class but she has 2 really close friends and mixes really well.

I remember writing those emails and really worrying but I look back now and realise that is just her personality and in time and encouragement from me and teachers she developed at her own pace. Good luck with your daughter, I am sure she will be fine. What use to help was having 1 or 2 friends over for playdates, she was never really one at that age for toddler groups.

My DD (15 months and a regular 5am waker) stands up shouting at the bars of the cot, and we normally go in and try and resettle her back down by stroking her head and lieing her back down. She sometimes goes back to sleep but only for about 10 minutes max and then the whole business starts up again. She also sometimes comes into bed with us but crawls all over us laughing and playing! In the end it is pretty much time to get up anyway so we give in and get up. I wouldn't mind if she was well rested and had had enough sleep, but it is too early for her and she is so crabby by about 7am. I have spent many a morning putting my eyeliner on whilst balancing her on my hip, because she is so overtired and just wants to be picked up and carried. I am now an expert at making tea, brushing my hair, doing my make up, tidying the flat, all with one hand whilst holding her! It makes the start of the day really stressful, especially as we both work full time. Lucky for her she is so cute!!

Hi there, I am a new Mums netter and found one of your old threads re your DD1 and her shyness, I would love to hear from you as my daughter is so similar its scary! She starts pre school in sept and i am a little anxious. It would be great to hear from you

Re DD2 waking early, we had a box of 'special in the cot toys',lift the flap books etc, which we would put in the cot in the morning or we would give her some milk which generally bought us an extra hours sleep. Hope this helps a little.

Can you give her some milk? Sometimes that would give me an extra hour.My DD is an early riser, but she will play in her cot for 30 mins or so. Can you put dd2 to bed half an hour after DD1?

Any chance she'd be happy if you sat her up with some books/toys with the light on and stumbled back to bed? Buys us half an hour, generally - more on a good day.

I knew I was asking the impossible! Are they happy to play in their cot or do they want you to get them up?

My DD (15 months) regularly wakes up at 5am, and won't go back to sleep. 6am would be a lie-in for us too!

I know some will say I am being greedy but DD2 goes to bed at 7pm and was sleeping nearer 6.30am and sometimes 7am. It seems to be since the clocks went forward that she is waking nearer 6am. Which I wouldn't mind if she was happy just to lie in her cot and play which she used to do. Now she cries until we get her up. It is just that I work and if she slept til 6.30ish, I could get up at 6 and prep for the day before getting her and DD1 up. Her room is dark so don't think it is a light thing. I would put her to bed later but she is really tired by 7pm, she is having 2-3 hrs of sleep in the day so I don't think that is too much either. Do you think there is anything I can do or do I just need to put up with it? DD1 also used to sleep nearer 7am but I think she can hear her sister so she also wakes earlier now.
