muffins are a favourite in this house, as are malteser buns, they can be eaten straight from the freezer if nec! also freeze sausage casserole (sausages, onion, peppers, tomatoes and stock) it heats up really well.
Hi JessJess Yes, my nesting seems to be taking the form of cooking. I havn't scrubbed any cupboards or floors, but I guess there is still time. I don't eat meat, so havn't made anything with turkey mince!
I have some very ripe bananas to make into banana cake if I can be bothered to go and get eggs!
I too wish this baby would just get on with it. It's very wiggly, I keep telling it that if it wants more space to play, then to come on out!
Biker - Am relieved that someone has an even fuller freezer than me! I thought I was being completely obsessive
non red meat stuff I have frozen...
- tuna pasta (onions, peppers, corguettes, capers & tinned tuna in tom herb sauce) - chicken & lentil curry - veg pasta (onions, peppers, mushrooms, corguettes & aubergine in tom herb sauce) - veg moussaka
Have you tried making spag bowl or chilli with turkey mince? It's lovely.
I've also frozen some sauces to go with prawns (pasta & curry) and have frozen prawns ready to defrost in bowl of water and chuck into the sauce at the last moment.
38 weeks and started mat leave last week, I have filled my freezer with:
Home made: Fish Pie Veg Lasagna Macaroni Cheese Pasta Bake Lentil Soup Pea Soup Veg Crumble Veg Pie Cheese Scones Fruit Scones Fruit Crumble Apple Pie Chelsea buns (acctually, these came from Asda) Veg, tomatoey pasta sauce Veg Curry
Can probably get away without cooking for a fortnight once DC is here.
Have also stocked up on Fish Steaks Frozen peas Big spuds for baking Baked beans Tomato soup Fish fingers Sausages Cereal UHT milk Soya milk (I hate cow's milk) Cheese Part baked bread (normally keep spare bread in freezer but freezer is now full)
Can get bread, milk and eggs easily in a few hundred m walk in village.
I find the best thing to do with chicken is to roast several at once, strip all the meat off and freeze it in bags. Then you can rustle up a quick something with cooked chicken.
I freeze fish pie and a bacon and leek thing in a cheese sauce, and pasta sauce and sausage casserole.
Also think of good easy meals like breaded fish, quiche, BBQ meats and have these ready in the freezer too.
Chilli and Spag Bol are the obvious meals for the freezer as well as a good vegie soup. Do you have any other ideas? We're not big red meat eaters so we'd only do stew if there was nothing else! Stuggling to come up with a couple of chicken recipes.
My cousin is coming next week and we're going to have a full day cooking.
