Don't bother going. You will be fleeced and it is no more than an blatant opportunity to sell you unneeded crap.

Glad to hear you both enjoyed it.

I have worked there for various companies/orgs (NCT, Good Birth Company and our very own MUMSNET!) over the years hence knowing it can be v quiet early on.

It is very interesting to look around and I think for those interested in things which are often only available online - like slings - it provides a fantastic opportunity to look, touch, and try out.

When I worked there the first thing I would do on arrival at 9.30am was book an over-clothes massage in the pamper area for around 4pm i.e. when it was getting quieter and I would be shattered. Last time I worked there the pamper area didn't happen. Which might be why I haven't worked there since!

sue i had a good time - DH offered to look after DD at home as he was working from home (bless him, he's not always that thoughtful grin ). So i went with a friend with an 18 month old and a 2:1 ratio was necessary!

I bought a lovely sling (which was fab to try out) for new baby (due in Aug) with about £7 off and got name labels (with a few pounds off and no postage cost) which i never seem to get round to ordering from catalogues so it was worthwhile. What with petrol and parking and entry, no saving of money but quite a nice day out. Not an experience i would necessarily repeat though! The best bit was looking at all the stuff i'm sure you could be convinced to buy if you were pg with DC1 and very suggestible!! hmm

isaido we took the bus from the car park (and back blush ), How lazy is that!!

I had a good day today; was quiet for first hour. Spent plenty of money when I didn't need anything. grin

No massive bargains unless perhaps you need to buy big items - prams etc.
Tommee Tippee stand had good discounts on their cups, bowls, etc.

No need to take nappies (free pampers / huggies changing areas) but food expensive - might be worth packing sandwiches / snacks.

There are several areas for you to let your DC have a play (vtech stand, fairy stand, persil stand, etc.)

I collected lots of freebies and entered lots of competitions!

Be aware parking is £8, and it is quite a long walk to the hall.

Get there for when they open the doors i.e. queueing at the door, not pulling into the car park. It's really quiet for the first half hour.

I'm not sure there are ever a lot of bargains about, tbh.

Oh, and also any other handy hints or tips anyone else has for my big day out tomorrow - Bargains, good stalls etc??

Thanks

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]

For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
