This is only my 1st month of TTC and my monthly friend is due next week. Im just wondering how soon i can take a home test. I know im probably setting myself up for a fall but i cant wait to see if we have hit jackpot first time round.

Anyone who can talk to me would be good as none of my family & friends know we are trying as we want to suprise them.

Am i being silly to think i could be pregnant?? wink

Reliably you should only test from the day your period is due.

Layla is right the day your period is due shoul dbe the earliest you test, but people have been known to get BFP's up to 4/5 days before - good luck

Step away from the tests! grin
Aunt Flo is due to visit me in about 10 days and i'm itching to test but i know it's too soon and you can drive yourself nuts if you start testing too early.....
With dd i tested 2 days before AF was due and got BFP.

Good luck! smile

We were lucky, first month of trying! But I only tested when my period was a few days late, I wasn't too sure of my dates so I hung on a bit longer. In the end it was symptoms like cramping that went on for days and weird boobs made me take a test

Don't do it! That way madness lies! grin Although it is really tempting, isn't it? You are much more likely to get a false negative with an early test though.

Here's why you shouldn't test early.... I've had a possible light implantation bleed and I don't feel premenstrual... due tomorrrow and been going through boxes ofearly detection tests for the last 3 days. Trouble is 3 varieties of test said no, and one variety had the faintest fainest almost not there, look too fast and you miss it..little line on it. I think I ovulated a bit late though... must have if this were to have worked, given when the necessary event happened. But I'm still due tomorrow...

Now I'm totally in knots...this is why you don't test early... you just can't trust anything the test says.

My fingers are crossed for you. I'm also due on end of next week I think.Only decided on day of ovulating that i wanted to try for a 3rd (must be crazy). That was last week. Now I can't wait to do a test. Last time around i tried a couple of early detection tests but they said I wasn't pregnant when I actually was. Very hard I know but we have to wait.....good luck.

.... so really really don't get into the early test thing. I did another test this morning, same sort as gave me the really faint result before, and now there's nothing.... and my period started to come on today... about a day late only but the first sore one I've had in ages. Now I'm not sure whether there was ever something there or not and it's making me very sad. If I had never tested there would never have been a question in my head at all, I just would have been a touch late.

Oh Sounsure sorry to hear that. If its any consulation i did a test yesterday and it was negative. I dont know why i did one, something in my head told me to. I know im not due until monday but i though just maybe it might show. I also know that as i tested early i could still get a positive if im late so only time will tell. Bloody temptation, i always give in.

Unless you're a millionnaire, don't test until your period is due, - and then test with first morning wee.

Ideally, - you'd wait two days past this but I realise there is no point in telling you that!

At the end of the day, - you are either pg or not and you can either know it and be a few 10s of £ poorer or know it and only be a few £ poorer!

Tis up to you!!

BTW - I tested at 9dpo blush and got a positive, - so don't listen to me.....grin!

LullyMummaOfOne, you're right, you could still be pregnant. I did early detection tests 2x with my previous pregnancy which showed negative but I did a proper test a few days later which was positive. I have no pregnancy symptoms today (may have been imagining some yesterday!) yet so I'm hanging on.

Leaky my symptoms have gone today too. I have been peeing for England the last week but have only been once today and my boobs have stopped hurting. I though i felt sick yesterday morning but felt fine today. Im not sure if all these are in my head.

My son was not planned and came as a complete shock so i have no idea what to expect this time round. Hurry up Monday thats what i say...

Hi all.Lully I know exactly wot you're going thru. Today I'm wondering again if I have a funny taste in my mouth but it could just be the spring onions I've had 2x or the garlic bread this evening.Only time will tell. We really shouldn't get hung up on the symptoms (she says)because last pregnancy I felt like I was gonna get AF for a few days because of pains & then discovered I was preggers after all. We may be lucky & hit the jackpot 1st time round grin, why shouldn't we after all these years of trying to prevent it but when you read on here how long some have been trying I guess we have to try & calm down & be real.Saying that, roll on nxt w/e!! smile

Thinking of you Lully.

Ok, the digital tests are the best. Don't get a cheapo one if you're gonna do it early. I did one on the day, and the day after, my period was due. Both negative. Had period pains then, so was convinced I wasn't pg, but no period, and still had sore boobs (which for me would stop when my period came). Did one on Day 3 after period was due...and it was positive.
