Would appreciate any help! Last period was on 15/03/08. Last 6 cycles have been 32, 30, 30, 28, 32, 35.

I had just used my last cycle length to work out EDD of 24/12 (!) on various online calculators. Doctor just figured it out from the standard 28 day cycle - but I rarely have them.

He has put on my records 20/12. I know it's only a few days difference but all the same - I'd rather it was as accurate as possible.

Is this a standard doctor thing to do? Should I just keep those extra few days in my head just in case I go overdue (all being well)?

I think I ovulate about day 18 - last time round was so much easier as I did have a 28 day cycle and ovulated around day 14!

Just a minor point in the grand scheme of things but would be interested to hear any thoughts.

don't worry, the dating scan will adjust it. They aren't actually that strict apparently, my MW said I could choose either the 12th (scan date) or the 14th (lmp date) whichever I thought was right!

My MW asked me what my cycle length was. So when you see your MW just mention it to her and she might change your date.

Thanks girls, will check with my midwife and wait for the dating scan.

Am currently working on a edd of the 22nd, seems to be an average of all my cycles and only two days out from the docs!

Hi also realised my cycle was shorter than 28 days (d'oh- can't believe I forgot to mention this to midwife at booking appointment). My date was brought forward slightly when they realised I was slightly bigger at a scan for dates- then happened to mention my cycle was more like 23 days and dates got adjusted.

My cycles have never been 28 days. I was told my EDD and disputed it as, according to their dates, I would have conceived on CD2 during af!!!! I dont think they cared though and I suppose it doesnt really matter in the end as baby will come whenever they are ready wink

Bit of an old thread, but just adding my tuppence worth. My cycles were always more like 32-36 days and I'm now 40+5, I'm not too concerned as I've always thought I'd be late, but hospital are keen to induce me at 40+10 which I think is too soon. I've never been asked about cycle length and didn't think to query it til now.

Going to do battle with docs tomorrow. Scan didn't show unusual size, but I don't know that it's accurate to within a week. Next time I think I might add a week to the start date of my last period. All babies in our family are late (and we all have long cycles)... So might be worth people battling early in pregnancy if concerned as very stressful now!

My GP worked out my EDD usng the 28 day standard. When I told him I have a 22-23 day cycle he changed my EDD to 3 days earlier - seems a bit random to me, but as it's v. early days yet I'll wait for a dating scan. I think I just want to be 'more' pregnant than I am so the extra few days seems to make a big difference at the moment!

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
