I have just found out I am pregnant (tested day 27 so very early) but my only symptoms at the moment are strange cramping sensations. Saw Consultant yesterday and he said that was normal but am so worried as i had a m/c in Oct last year and I had similar cramping. Can anyone help and reassure me that this can be nornmal. I am so obsessed that it isn't going to implant. HELP xxx

it could be implantation pain. Try not to worry. I would try and get as much rest as possible.

Good luck, hope this one sticks.

Hi Belgo, thank you for replying. I've been a bit obssessed with implantation pain. No bleed or discharge. I read somewhere that you can feel like your period is about to start and I suppose that is what it feels like. I'm just so worried... Are you pregnant?
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By belgo on Wed 05-Mar-08 09:01:13
yes I am, following two miscarriages. (I have two small children as well).

I certainly had cramps during this pregnancy at about the three to four week stage. And I've been stressing out about miscarrying sice then, which is normal. Now at just over the nine week stage and I had a scan last week showing everything is fine. I'm still worrying though, so I know how you feel!
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By carrieboo75 on Wed 05-Mar-08 09:07:22
Sounds normal to me. This is my 4th and the cramping started the day after ov, 2 1/2 weeks later it has stopped now. As far as I am aware it is the ligaments stretching and getting read for the baby to grow. I had a scare with number 1 and they said you only need to worry if you get pain and blood at the same time. Good luck with it all- it does not hurt to be extra cautious!

I love this site, people are so supportive. This is my first so as you can imagine I am paranoid something is going to go wrong. Especially as for about 1 week before the m/c i had similar pains. I have severe endometriosis so I suppose my insides are probably in shock. My bowel is also playing up as the endo is all over it, so I think some of the pain is coming from that.

Did either of you two have the bleed with implantation??
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By belgo on Wed 05-Mar-08 09:22:41
I've never had an implantation bleed, niether for my successful pregnancies nor for my miscarriages.

It's a good sign that you haven't had any bleeding.

19 weeks? Blimey, I just don't know how that would be possible. It obviously wasn't planned. I have known ever second of my cycle which is a bit stupid.

I had small implantation bleeds with both of mine. I remember getting cramping with DS, although as it was my first pg I didn't panic. I then had a m/c. When I was pg with DD i think I spent pretty much the first 8 weeks as a completely precious baby vessel. I had a lot of cramping and was very down about it convinced I was loosing pg. I didn't and I now have two lovely children. Good luck!

Thank you, it is so nice to hear other peoples stories as at times I feel quite isolated. So cramping can be normal.. good. I jsut pray i get to the stage of morning sickness (which at the time i am sure I will hate it) but it will reassure you that i am definitely pregnant!!

Hi Pinkali37
I am 5 weeks and 3 days and had exactly the same symptoms as you (in fact still having) as this is my first pregnancy i was scared and thought i would mc at any moment. Went to doctors who sent me to the EPU and i had an internal scan yesterday. All was fine the baby had implanted in the right place and sypmtoms in line with streching uterus and constipation! Felt a bit silly but reassured to know that evrything is healthy. Luckily i had sypmathetic doctors and nurses who were keen to put my worry to rest. Might be worth a thought

I had cramping too with both pgs, and was told is was just things stretching to accmodate the uterus. If in doubt get yourself referred to your local scanning unit - exagerate if you have to!! Better to be safe and not worried

Im having the same sort of cramping, this is my 6th pg but ive had 2 m/c. I have had this period like pain in all of the pregnancies but never had any bleeds.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Pinkali37 on Wed 05-Mar-08 17:30:04
Olvia - How far are you?

Lolabella - I think mine is also something to do with my bowel as it seems to be playing up !! I think because when I had my M/c last year, i had no idea I was pg as was waiting for period so could start Clomid. Then for about 1 week i had the period pains then did a test and it was positive but then mc 2 days later after being at EPU... Prog level was indicative of mc not the cause.

Lolabella - do you have any high pain above tummy button??

I feel slightly more relaxed as what will be will be (if that makes sense).

Pinkali, Congratulations on your pregnancy! I'm nearly 10 weeks and I'm still having cramping on and off. I think it's perfectly normal. I had a miscarriage last year and was convinced that there was going to be a problem this time, but I've had 2 scans and so far, so good. It's completely normal to worry, expecially after your last experience. Can you ask your GP to refer you the the EPU for a reassurance scan? They should be quite understanding about your situation. I think I'd be a complete wreck by now if I hadn't had mine.
Good luck!

Hi Pinkali, I have no idea of my LMP so i think im roughly 4-6 weeks.

Pinkali, i don't have any pain above the belly button most of the time but i have also been quite gassy and bloated (linked with constipation) which has aggravated my cramping even more. My cramping seems to be more at night too and down my left side(where the left colon lies)which again according to the doctor ties in mith my bowels. Oh the joy!!
I agree with Shrinkingsagpus and Aubergenie - get yourself checked out for reassurance. The worry can drive you crazy
Take care and Good luck x

Went to the Doc this morning and he is faxing my local EPU to ask them to do a 6 week scan (so that is in 2 weeks). I think I can hold off til then so long as the pain doesn't get any worse. I'm so nervous about having it done as last time the sonographer was so frank and just "nope there's nothing there", then had the cheek to ask me if I was ok. I'm so scared they won't see anything. I think my thing at the mo is I judt do not feel preg but as consultant said it si too early.

GP told me to do another test so of course had to rush around all day tesco etc.. until I could get home to do the test. I am pleased to report it is still positive and I just pray that it stays that way.

LolaBella - I think my bowels are being stupid too. I think i may also have indegestion But so long as my PEA stays in place I don't mind.

I had pain in my ovaries last night but the doc said that is fine as it is something to do with the hormones for the implanted PEA before the placenta grows.

It all sounds so similar to what im feeling. I'm 5 and a half weeks and no signs of preg other than than the cramping and constipation. I keep having to do tests too just to make sure. It is costing me a small fortune!!

pinkali - I'm glad you've got a six weeks scan booked. Feeling hungry is a good sign! Don't worry about not having any other symptoms, some women don't experience any pregnancy symptoms. And it's still very early.

I don't see the point of you doing any more pregnancy tests - they won't tell you how well the pregnancy is going.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Pinkali37 on Fri 07-Mar-08 08:59:27
Exactly... i've decided just to take each day as it comes and to try and remain positive. Why shouldn't this one work for me, I have just as much right to be a mummy as anyone else so my little PEA is going to stay PUT.... grin

Baldwins - it might be implantation bleeding, brown blood is old blood too. Many women bleed and still go on to have a healthy pregnancy. Try and get to your Early Pregnancy Unit for a scan it might help put your mind at rest.
Fingers crossed for you x

only just seen this, but wanted to reply to baldwins now.

baldwins, hcg varies from pg to pg let alone from woman to women. dont agree to a d&c unless you are absolutely sure. there are plenty of stories of women who have been told that HCG isnt good enough and everything has turned out ok. admittedly thats not always the case, but i bled from 5w-20w with ds and got bfp/bfn/bfp/bfn in the first few weeks. i have also had 7 mc's, so i know how frightened you are, but dont give up hope yet.

right, off to read thread...

Hi All,

Good weekend as not too much cramping. In fact only a very little. Still think my bowel is being stupid My sister was up from London this week and she is 12 weeks preg so of course the scan pictures were out. I felt a bit weird cos no one knows about mine (apart from my mum).

A new symptom - going for a wee every half an hour at night !!! Plus a dragging feeling like i've been holding onto it for ages before I go and a complete relief to let go. Anyone else have a strange pain when weeing???

Thank you lolabella and Carrieboo I will have a nosey at the other thread.

4 Weeks and 5 days today... xxx

Hi Pinkali, belgo here, I've namechanged smile. Glad to hear everything is still alright.

It is possible you've got a urinary infection, go to the doctors, and drink lots of water! Going to the toilet so frequently and a strange pain are symptoms of urinary tract infections.

I had a scan two weeks ago which confirmed the pregnancy to be at 8 weeks, heartbeat and tiny baby seen, it was incredible. I'm glad I didn't have a scan any earlier because I don't think I would have been reassured by a scan at 6 or 7 weeks, having miscarried before at 7 weeks.

Pinkali37

I had a miscarriage in October 2007.

I too had cramping, at 10 weeks I was in floods of tears after a terrible day of cramping, I was inconsoleable. Had a major bleed and thought 'here we go again'.

My husband was very supportive and took me for a private scan, it was all that was going to settle me. I sat in the Reception crying and crying. I got inside and the Sonographer could see what a state i was in and wasted no time in putting the thingy on my belly and there it was, my little baby wriggling and jumping and measuring almost 5cm....

I'm now 4.5 months pregnant - my lesson here, don't assume the worst.

Many many women miscarry once and a large number of those go on to have healthy babies next time round.

I know exactly what you're going through though...I bought a fetal doppler after the above episode. Even now, when I get a bad tummy ache....or cramping, i put my doppler on and hear our baby and i'm fine.

Good luck.

Katelyn x

Thanks for that Katelyn, I find this site so useful for getting other peoples views and symptoms. It is so scary when have experienced previous m/c, you become obssessed that every preg will end that way. I suppose I need to be thankful that up to now we have over come implantation and every day that goes by is a blessing.

My boobs are slightly tender but nothing that would make me think I was preg other than the BFP. I was on day 27 of cycle when I took my test so found out very early.

Look forward to nearby milestones, yours will be having it confirmed by the doctor....which you can do as early as you like. Once thats done, look forward to your dating scan at approx 10-12 weeks....

I am having a 6 week scan as the Consultant has asked for one (think it is more so to try and reassure me). I just can't rest until I see it and all at that stage is normal. My last scan was awful, the sonographer just annouced "nope nothing there" then had the cheek to ask if my husband and I were OK... So after that most awful experience at the EPU am just a little hesitant.

Hi Pinkali

I just found out last week that I am pregnant although it was quite an unexpected surprise for me and my husband.

I cannot remember when my last period was so I'm not sure how pregnant I am but I think about 6 weeks and I am having the same stomach pains, it feels like period pains that are fairly constant but they aren't crippling just annoying. Having just got used to the idea of having a baby I am now scared of miscarrying and I too keep doing tests. My doctor told me that the midwives would call me in 3/4 weeks but I don't know if I can last that long wondering!!

My other symptoms are no appetite (apart from fruit) which means I am force-feeding myself to make sure I get something, sensitivity to smells and mood swings.

Can anyone tell me if all of this is normal??? I don't know anyone else who is or has been pregnant (that I have told so far, except my mum who can't remember!!) so I have no clue as to whats normal or not.

Sorry for the ramblings but I saw this post and it sounds quite familiar.

Good luck all. x

Good luck.

Pinkali - it's very easy to over analyse how you are feeling when you are pregnant. Not all women get those symptoms, and sometimes the symptoms don't kick in until 7-8 weeks of pregnancy.

Try not to worry.

Give it a little while and see what happens - unless it's an ectopic, it will do you no harm to hang on if thats what you wish to do.

I wish you all the best. I had a miscarriage before this one so whilst we hadn't been trying as long as you, i know how you might be feeling about the loss of a baby - however soon.

Good luck baldwins and if it should turn out to be bad news, insist on further investigation.

Regards
Katelyn

Baldwins... I am so sorry to hear that news. I hope that your time will come in the not too distant future. Can I recommend Acupuncture as a way to channel your emotions and to concentrate not only on western medicine but also an alternative. I provided me with hope and allowed me to relax. I'm not saying it will work for you but I gave it a chance and I really do think it has benefited me. Also the guy who does it is so funny and it allows me to think about other things for 1 hour a week.

I am sorry you think that we are rude on this site, i don't know what to say to that other than I am sorry.

Pinkali - how are you feeling yourself? Is everything still going ok?
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Pinkali37 on Tue 11-Mar-08 09:20:38
Hi Belgo, touch wood everything seems fine (which I think worries me even more). Yesterday I thought my boobs were feeling tender and was obssessed with vein spotting but this morning they feel better. No other symptoms other than a bit of a twinge every now and again low in my tummy or a twinge in my ovaries which the doctor thought was my hormones being produced (or soemthing like that). Am waiting for appointment for 6 week scan. I'm now scared that they don;t see a heartbeat but I am 6 weeks on a Wed (5 wk tomorrow) so am hoping it will be in the next weeks so will be nearer 7 weeks.

Anyway enough about me, how are you??

xx

I would also prefer a scan closer to 7 weeks then six weeks, at six weeks, they may see a heartbeat or they may not, even if all is going well.

I certainly wasn't having pregnancy symptoms at 5 weeks, but now I'm ten weeks they are kicking in!

I'm just a few weeks further on then you, but gosh I remember how I felt five weeks ago, and how the days and weeks just dragged.

I really hope that you are in my position in five weeks time!

I suppose I started to get excited after my 8 week scan. But I can't relax too much yet, not until 12 weeks!

congratulations pinkali, im really really pleased for you. every day is a step closer...

and im sorry to do this on your thread but i feel i must say something. please forgive me...
Baldwins, i think you are extremely rude. a lot of women, myself included have been sympathetic and opened up an awful lot of wounds in order to help yourself and pinkali. not sure what you mean by "deleted (your) worries" all of your posts are still on here. i know that this is difficult, and you have been ttc for a long time, but it does not give you the right to speak like that to women who are trying to help you. i know this sounds harsh, and im sorry but bleeding does NOT mean the end. not by a long shot. you should go to your gp and ask for investigations and i wish you the very best of luck in the future. i am very sorry for your loss.

again pinkali, im very sorry for posting this on your thread, and i shall keep an eye out for youx

pinkali have just read through this thread and really glad to hear all's well with you.

I wanted to tell you my story so far in case it helps in the future. I had the most awful cramping during implantation at less than 4 weeks. It was only at night and felt like really painful period cramps, after the third night I woke up early and did a pregnancy test and it came up positive. I was overjoyed (and nervous)

Then the cramping stopped and I panicked that I'd lost my only 'symptom'.

Just over a week later started spotting brown blood. It was very light and not at all painful but continued for a few days so I was sent for a scan. Scan at 5+3 was fine, a pregnancy sac that measured right but too early to see anything else.

The day after I had awful cramping and the spotting got heavier. For another three days I suffered further cramping and spotting. I was on holiday at the time so could do nothing but wait and see. The cramps stopped but the brown bleeding continued, along with bits of endometrium lining, throughout the holiday and then stopped the day of my follow up scan (2 weeks after the first).

Much to my surprise and joy we saw a baby with a heartbeat in my tummy! I'm now 12+1 and am due a dating scan next Monday.

The reason I'm posting this is because I believe that the initial cramping I had during implantation caused an amount of internal bleeding (egg burrowing deeply) which didn't come out until the following week. And because my cervix was closed it took over 3 weeks to expel all the old blood. So if you do get any brown blood over the next few days don't panic straightaway, it could be from your initial cramps.
I believe the second wave of cramping I experienced was from a combination of the discomfort of holding old blood near the cervix and over-stretching my bladder during the first scan.

I've learned through my experience and from the wonderful support on Mumsnet that cramping and bleeding in early pregnancy is common, a lot more common than we're led to believe. It doesn't necessarily mean it's over.

Still waiting for the all clear that I'll get with the next scan, but since my last scan at 7 weeks I've had no bleeding or period-like cramps. I get the occasional twinge in that area, but for me those are reassuring growing sensations.

Hope that helps. I know how worrying the first trimester can be (has been) and you're doing brilliantly to be thinking positively about it - that's gotta be good for your PEA.

smile

Pinkali - stop stressingsmile. Pregnancy symptoms come and go, and the more you think about them, the more they go.

Try not to worry. Your scan must be soon?

My 12 week scan is on the 25th! I know how stressful it is. You'll get through it somehow. Can you organise to do something nice this weekend to take your mind off of it?
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Pinkali37 on Tue 18-Mar-08 08:32:28
Yes think we are doing something nice this weekend (not sure what). Have you had a previosu scan?
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By belgo on Tue 18-Mar-08 08:33:46
I had a scan at 8 weeks, and that was reassuring. But of course there's always that little worry until you get past the 12 week mark.
