ok, new to this as DS1 only 3 but friend said today we need to put in choices of school in sept.

Got me thinking, how do I know when to send it in? I assume they contact us but how do they know he exists at this address? we have moved since registering him.

that is no doubt a totally daft question!

When is his birthday? If it is before Sept 1st this year then you need to be looking at schools now, if after Sept 1st he won't be going till next year and you can start looking later (and if it's the latter I will perhaps see you again on an OMFG what school shall I choose for DS thread as mine will be starting school in Sept 09 too). Contact your local council for a list of schools.

you need to go and collect a form from your local primary school in september and return the form, by the deadline, to your first choice school

I have seen posters everywhere kids might go (DS' nursery, the library, playgroups etc) reminding parents that if your DC's birthday is between Aug 31st and Sept 1st of the relevant year, it's time to start looking.

I'm not looking forward to this at all. The nearest school is a fecking faith school that I do not want him to go to. (Apparently the faith school actually takes DC no matter what the family's position on superstition, it's decided by proximity...) Will have to check out other
schools: at least there are some.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
