We've had one recommended to us and it does sound lovely, but I can't find out much more about it, and would rather know a bit more before I approach them.

Anyone?

"Blue is the colour of alms-giving and Charity. It was the common colour for clothes in Tudor times, and so the charity children were dressed in blue Tudor frock coats, yellow stockings and white bands."

There are several Bluecoat schools around the country but they have no connection with each other (beyond their historic charitable status).

If you mean Bluecoat schools they have a fantastic reputation. Only thing is that their waiting lists are a mile long. I contacted one a few weeks back asking about a place for September 2009 and was told that even the waiting list was full and had been since before Christmas!

I thought it was something to do with protecting the oceans. Like a 'green school' is into recycling and environment.

Hang on I'll just google.

Oh, it was something a Canadian friend was telling me about schools over there.

As you were blush

Thanks. I don't think it was Bluecoat, but I'll have a look at them now, too!

I'm not particularly unhappy with dd's school, but I think she could be challenged a bit more, really...

I went to a Bluecoat school. It was good - very strong on art and music. No idea if that is common or not.

Is there a main list for the blue coat schools or are they all totally independent of each other? Thanks

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
