I make it for customers if they request it grin, and don't quote me on this but I'm sure either Waitrose or M&S do salt free fresh ones.

Isn't marigold salt-free?

Marigold is not salt free in fact they're standard stock is about 25% salt or something similarly shocking.

Even the 'reduced salt' version has quite high salt levels, but is better ...

Kallo do a salt free version I think, but it tastes disgusting.

If you're really that keen - make you're own stock and keep it in the freezer. Nothing quite like homemade stock made from a roast chicken carcass. It tastes fantastic without any salt!

yes and you know if you are used to freshly made chicken stock I can concede that they probably do taste disgusting

Freshly made chicken stock does sounds very la-di-da doesn't it. I can claim no credit, but dp does usually make up loads of stock from whatever beast we cook on a Sunday and then puts it in the freezer. And it really is yummy in things where it really matters - subtle risottos, soups etc.

Otherwise I resort to Marigold reduced salt bouillon, that kallo stuff doesn't dissolve and reminds me of packaged soup I'm afraid. Takes me back to camping holidays and stirring your cup a soup whilst the rain lashed down outside!

Thanks everyone. I'll try the "are they disgusting or not" Kallo ones. I'd love to have freshly made stock all the time but I don't think that it's very likely!

Oh...just read last post from Pidge in more detail..not dissolving doesn't sound good. Marigold then & persuade DH that stock making is good for your sex life
