Hi Mumnetters. I hope someone can help. We've got people around for dinner tomorrow evening and I decided to do a smoked salmon mousse thing which sounds posh but is v v v easy. Popped first packet of salmon in mixer and it smelt fine, popped second one in and it smelt eggy. (Yummy wink). The packets were in all date and had been stored unopened in the fridge. Does anyone know what smoked salmon smells like when it goes off? I ate quite a bit to make sure I wasn't sick and didn't poison the other guests .....!

Any advice would be great!

Well if it was very off it would smell of ammonia but it sounds a bit dodgy to me, eggy would imply sulphates which are probably a by-product of the smoking process, possibly harmless but not nice to eat imo. I would bin it and buy some more tommorow.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
