In savoury cooking it is lovely. Its slight sourness will perfectly offset the richness of the salmon in popsy's recipe. I am sure its use won't put the children off the dish.
The fact that it is fermented (ie slightly soured) means it won't separate unless you boil the bejasus out of it You can certainly stir it in and heat it through
