Milk is an important source of nutrients that you and your family shouldnt miss out on. If someone in your family has lactose intolerance and the rest of the family still want to enjoy the taste of real milk, try Lactofree - the UKs first virtually lactose-free dairy drink.
DD is allergic to eggs, lentils, strawberry, pineapple and has very bad eczema and a constant runny nose (sorry posted about that before) so suspecting maybe intolerance or a dust allergy. Things had eemed to be getting better- she's accidentally had some cake at nursery and not reacted and during the winter her eczema had practically gone. However 2 weeks ago Skin prick in hospital showed her egg allergy seems to be getting worse not better and since last week her eczema literally covers her entire body apart from her face and nappy area and feet, Yesterday she reacted to something at nursery - thought it must have been egg (and was cross about another mistake at nursery)but doesn't seem to be - she'd had salmon so now wondering if it was this - she's had it before many times but I feel so fed up about her having another allergy (lentil one started after she'd had it many times). She's such a lovely little one and I guess I just feel sorry for her and tired and fed up always having to be so vigilant and doing her creams up to 8 times a day - I know there are many many worse conditions and lives - and normally I feel able to cope Ok - but today I'm sick myself I just need to vent...and maybe some words of encouragement ...
Thank you so much for your kind words Williamsmummy - that does just about sum it up. it is total pants! Just about to visit my mum and family and feel all those tenterhooks feelings come back as they have their nutty cereal or mayonnaise then reach over and wipe her nose (don't yet know about nuts) no matter how many times I say to wash them first!
Good luck with your LO - sounds like you have a lot on your plate!
Yes us to Sunflower. Dd has had the eczema which I must say has improved with eliminating things but is still there. Still up everynight with the cream and the antihistamines! Dds allergies are;
peanuts, life threatening avoiding all nuts and seeds kiwi green beans all peppers maize ( which is corn and corn deriatives)
oh and I forgot the banana and probably a few more I expect. So many now I start to forget them all. Yes I was having a rant to earlier. Its all so so hard and no one except others in the same situation can really understand. I dont even imagine the doctors can.
The last allergist or whatever he was just had a funny non comitted answer of 'oh well just make sure she dosnt eat to many of the minor allergen foods to a meal' when we'd just recieved more endless results. I dont know how we manage. But how does he expect that either, it was an escape answer, of no real benefit. How do you not have a few of potatoes,onions,carrots,tomato(which we avoid anyway) or salad stuffs in one meal. I'd like to see him try and tell us the secret, what with avoiding the other worse ones also.
Ds started out just being allergic to dairy and eggs, but as time has gone on, he has started reacting to things he has had many many times, like tomato, lentils, sesame.
It's so frustrating and so difficult as you just don't know what he's going to react to next, and you are suspicious of every little sniffle or patch of excema as being evidence of a new allergy starting.
I go through phases of coping ok with it and then feeling really upset and frustrated.
Poor DS ends up with a very boring diet as I tend to stay away from the main allergens.
You have my sympathy also. My dds both have eczema, as we all did as kids, dd2(4) is pretty bad all the time and when they allergy tested her it turned out she was severely allergic to our cat and guinea pigs, plus house dust mites !
She has been better, less reactive, since we sent the poor cat to live with my mum, and we just let her give the guinea pigs an occassional pat. She is also moderately allergic to eggs, soya, grass and tree pollen and mould ! o and dogs too.
Have got used to it over the years, the eczema and the constant use of creams and medicines. My hope is my 9 yr old neice who was pretty horrifically affected, but is now growing out of the eczema. Like you I do tell myself there are worse things she could have, she is very healthy compared to some poor children.
Thanks to you all. Feeling a bit better as eczema suddenly got much better with the cooler weather - it seems to be very related to the heat and the weekend away was great and I was very touched by my mum and her partner's huge efforts to be sensitive and considerate to dd's allergies as well as completely adoring her. So sorry to hear about everyone elses issues too. Pants indeed!
